L: A cloudy golden color. One finger of head and retention is decent. Carbonation is easily visible.

S: A bit of Brett funk. Some sweet malt and maybe a bit of sourness.

T: Simply amazing. Fairly sour, tart being a better descriptor, with lemon-like qualities. Sourness that I would attribute to Lacto more than Brett. Some funk -think barnyardy/musty- works its way through on the finish. Some hops also come through as being earthy and slightly metallic. Malt is still here too and comes through as bready and slightly sweet. Bitterness is mild and somewhat subdued but compliments the overall beer nicely. Subtle undertones of peach and pear.

F: Crisp and refreshing. The acidity makes it thirst quenching like lemonade.

O: Great stuff. Would happily buy again if readily available. Honestly, one of the better beers I've ever had.

Its body is a hazy golden amber hue. A strong level of carbonation is still visible. Three inches of airy, whipped white head diminishes fairly quickly, leaving chunky patches and legs of lace behind.

Brett plays a major influence on the nose. Tart and acidic lemon peel is dominant. Chalky and dusty with fresh hay all around. A streak of warn leather and alcohol gradually move in. It's lively and clean and screams refreshment with its puckering acidity.

Tart lemon peel acidity pinches the middle of the palate. A little grassy and floral
A subtle, smooth oakiness with a drop of vanilla rounds out the finish with warm, freshly baked chewy bread. Leathery solvent comes through on the retro nasal.

At 7% it's deceptively light. Partly due to its borderline effervescent level of carbonation and partly due to its firm dryness. Paired with its acidity, this is an exceptionally refreshing Saison.

This is the most Brett forward Saison I've had to date. The spotlight doesn't stray far from its lemony hay character and I found that took away from its complexity. I still enjoyed it through and through. This would be perfect with fish or a rich, fatty dish.

Bought a 750ml bottle from the local beer store for about 10$. Bottling date is 07/08/2017 and drank on 10/11/2017 (3 months). Bottle under moderate pressure and opens easily with a strong "pop". Poured into a stemless snifter.

Look: pours an almost perfectly transparent fizzy golden orange drink with lots of head the subsides quickly but leaves slight lacing. Second glass a lot more cloudy, probably from more yeast.

Smell: The Brett funk is dominant, but very pleasing. Barnyard, urine (reminiscent of an old hamster cage). Kind of like horse-butt. Also notice apricot, pears/peaches, most likely from the Saison side. The funkiness is very forward and fills the room.

Taste: Very citrus forward. Moderate complexity with many different flavors popping in and out, hard to distinguish many on first sip. Tangy, zingy, and citrusy. Tart and somewhat dry. I really enjoy the taste. Brettanomyces isn't very dominant, but noticeable. Brett tends to become more apparent with some air and higher temperature. Alcohol is almost unnoticeable even when searched for. Perhaps a touch of (pilsner) malt here and there. Some hoppy bitterness near the end here and there, when the tartness doesn't overpower it. Second glass was a bit more funky, probably from picking up more of the Brett.

Mouthfeel: Moderate-high carbonation. A champagne prickle and lightness, but also a slight moderate feel to it. A weak dry finish.

Overall: This is my first introduction to Brettanomyces yeast beer. A really great style; I really enjoyed this one. Kind of like a gose or Berliner Weisse, but different. I take the "different" to be the Brettanomyces. It's a sour ale with a unique mouthfeel and a funky twist. The sour fruitiness slightly overpowers the funkiness, but they both tend to show their faces. A work of art. A beer sure to make you say "wow" and wake you up from it's scintillating sensory experiences. The tartness and sourness might be a bit overpowering. If it were just slightly less sour, it'd be a masterpiece.

You might think labels like "horse-butt" or "old hamster-cage" to be aversive, but it's just the opposite. It's nasty, but just enough so it isn't off-putting. If you get what I mean. Kink of like a kink you know is kind of bad, but it's just so good.

I imagine a 6-12 month Saison Brett would be much more funky (from what I've read) as the Brett is a slow-acting yeast that increases with time. I will age a bottle about 10 months to see the full power of Brett funkiness.

Great tart beer with some funky (but pleasing) qualities.

I recommend if you enjoy sour ales or seek a new drinking experience.

750 ml bottle. Hazy golden with thin white head. Overall nice saison, just a little funk, not too sour, very easy drinking. A little too pricey but not bad at all.

A nice lemon zest tart, a fair amount of sour, good carbonation, and a slight Brett presence.

This is not a "great" beer, just a nice summer saison option from a brewery not named Hill Farmstead.

Corked and caged 750ml from the Rare Beer Club. Oak barrel aged tart saison fermented twice, first with saison yeast then with brettanomyces. Bottle conditioned with brett as well.

This beer pours deep pale ale in color, with a massive brett head. It actually foamed up over the top of the bottle when I pulled the cork. Pretty well carbonated.

Smells include green apple, some band aid, field grass, a little honeydew melon, and acetic tart sort of vinegar aroma. Faint white pepper in the nose.

Taste includes the tart green apple notes, along with some woodiness. Very lightly sweet but the crisp carbonation, funky brett and that tart character sort of wash the sweetness away with each sip.

Prickly and sharp on the tongue, dry finish as you would expect to find in a saison, especially one with a secondary brett fermentation. Not much bitterness to speak of.

Excellent beer, the first one I had from the beer club and I couldn't be more impressed.

Appearance - this beer pours a cloudy golden orange color with 2 finger bubbly white head which dissapear quickly to give it a small film over the top.

Aroma - brett funk, orange, apple, grape, oak, bubble gum, bread.

Taste - Salt and sour apple/grape hit the tongue first. followed by oak from the barrels then a spiceyness from the chinook hops and fresh bread from the yeast.

Feel - light creamy body mild bitterness very smooth but not what I would expect considering the saisons I've had in the past.

Overall - This is a pretty average offering that is priced way above its quality in my opinion. It may be that les trois mousquetaires usually make fantastic beers that I'm a little mixed as to where this one is concerened. It has a fatastic smell but the flavor and feel just dont do that smell justice. cheers!

Pours a gorgeous hazy (nearly cloudy, in fact) light amber with splendid three finger head and spectacular lacing. This is one beautiful beer.

Bright crisp green apple is very forward on the nose, followed by wine vinegar, citrus, and classic horsey funk. The grain is very prominent as well.

This is one funky brett farmhouse from a flavor standpoint, and that's a fine thing. It is actually rather malty and sweet at the very first touch to the tongue, but that is quickly followed by sharp sour notes (red wine or even vinegar) along with white pepper and oak. Perhaps a bit unbalanced on the sourness, but overall very good.

The mouthfeel is splendid. The beer is light, effervescent, and presents with a crisp dry finish.

Overall, an excellent Brett Saison.

On draft at Vices & Versa. Pours a thick rather misty brown with a thin ring of head and good lacing. Aroma very light - funky, some stone fruit, spice, Flavour: prunes, pepper, barnyard - leather horse piss on hay, some alcohol warmth. Extraordinary complexity. Lightish body despite this and long finish
