Unfiltered golden lager inspired by the Kellerbiers, or "cellar beers", found in the northern Bavarian region of Franconia. This Kellerbier marries a rich malt flavor with an herbal hop character.

Kellerbier: unfiltred pilsner, as written on the sticker, poured into my favorite pint.

Result a nice looking beer, golden/blond, a little bit cloudy, a nice foamy white head with active carbonation, laces on the glass.

smell very natural to me, cereals, hop, floral/herbal tones..

Taste is good too. Hop is present all the way, but its a very smooth hop taste. Its malty as well, similar to a good english pale ale..

mouthfeel is interesting, its not watery, good texture, it is smooth, with bitterness as after-taste. carbonation is medium and active.

Drinkability is excellent. Flavors are well presented and balanced, however i dont know this style of beer, an old german recipe..so in dont know if its authentic or whatever...

but its very good!

This is a medium bodied Pilsner. A little more bitterness than a typical Pilsner, but nothing to get worked up over. My beer was a draft at BreWskey in Montreal. Little head with no lacing to speak of. More mouthfeel than a typical Pilsner and slightly more body.

Bought a 750 ml bottle from local beer store for about 7.5 Canadian dollars. Served in a flute glass at 4 Celsius. Bottle was dated 30/06/2017.

Look: pours a mostly see-through golden, slightly orange, color with a generous head that lingers and leaves lacing on the glass. Some noticeable carbonation and bubbles that float up for a while. It gets pretty drab and flat-looking after about 10 minutes.

Smell: I love the smell, but hard to pinpoint particular likenesses. Perhaps wheat, maybe some wood, but some other unknown predominant but subtle pleasing scent. like leather or old musty something. Pretty simple.

Taste: First notice malts. Pretty straightforward but some different tastes seem to be layered about. I can't really point to anything in particular to what it tastes like, but I love the taste. Maybe like leather? Maybe a slight nutty character. Wheat or grains, and a slight herbal feel. A mild bitterness shows the hoppy character of it. No alcohol noticeable. Definitely a memorable and unique flavor that predominates.

Mouthfeel: Slightly thin feel, loses carbonation fast. Kind of coats the tongue and palate.

Overall: It was love at first taste. At first sip malts, then that unique flavor, then some hops. Just the right balance of malts and hops for me. The flavor and bitterness seem to become more pronounced with a bit of air and as the beer temp rises. Drink fast and cold or it gets kind of boring. It's nothing grand and special, but it sure is good. Reminds me somewhat of Peroni Nastro Azzurro - at least I think, I haven't had a Peroni in a while. A slight pilsner feel. No big "in your face" flavors or profile here, but an easy, pleasurable, drinking experience. Not too high ABV so you don't get smashed and it's possible to drink a whole bottle alone without feeling like a drunkard.

I recommend. Share a bottle or two with a friend.

This golden lager comes with a healthy thick cream that doesn't dissipate and tops off beautiful amber tones. Caramel, nutty and fruity. Light hoppy and acidic feel on tongue and concludes with a pleasant finish. Enjoyable all around and recommended.

Light amber, dark gold color. Decent head taht leaves a nice clumping of spotty lace.

A bit earthy nose. Reminiscent of beef stew.

Highly carbonated and hopped. Relatively dry malt start. The finish is an extension of the initial flavors--dry and bitter. Light in body which with the carbonation makes this beer seem very thin. Still, this is very drinkable with enough complexity to keep it interesting.

Poured from the bottle into a Libbey style pilsner glass.

Deep orange amber, almost brown but with an opaque unfiltered appearance. Some cola sticking carbonation but also some fine sized bubbles that rise quickly through the body. The head is creamy but small, forming only about two fingers but manages some soapy pill lacing, and has a very vanilla crème to banana yellow color and foamy puck.

Heavinly fruity esters going on, with large spicy malt like base. Creamy sensing vanilla and spiced clove with a big fig like note that dominates the nose. Very fruit forward with a raisin like sweetness that comes over. Dense. Rich. Smells very inviting, almost hinting at Belgian character but definitely lighter and of course not with any sucrose naturally. Big Keller indeed, and then some real creamy banana to match.

Palate comes with a large malty base. Hints of bock like big quality and caramel malt, with light phenolic character. Crisp finish and real big spicy sensations. Large banana finish with spiced nutmeg and allspice hot dry air aftertaste. The mouthfeel at such low abv is very impressive, thick, rushing and big malt coating everywhere. A bit of a fussel warmth and booming alcohol like sensation surprisingly coming off as a bigger brew. Chewy palate with an almost nutty flavor too match.

It's very impressive, a little large and unexpected, but really delicious for a Keller.

Les Trois Mousquetaires "Série Signature Kellerbier"
$6.26 Canadian for 20 oz. on tap @ BierMarkt, Montreal

Appearance: Hazy golden body beneath a creamy head of white. Excellent retention and lacing, leaving solid walls of lace behind.

Aroma: Floral hops, basic grainy malt, yeast.

Flavor: Pilsner malt threaded through with noble hops, spicy and grassy. Solid bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Median to moderate carbonation. Gently crisp, delicately bristling the tongue, and then smooth with malt and yeast.

Overall: Pretty impressive. It stands right up there with some of the best Kellerbiers I've tried in Germany. It's components are all distinct, yet it pulls together as one. Very balanced and rounded. Remarkably drinkable in that it's easy to drink, but also offers enough character to keep it interesting.
