Bottled courtesy of ZorPrime, 750ml bottled corked and caged poured into a pint glass. Thanks Eric!

Pours a ruby red/light mahoghany with a generous 3 finger head. Lovely lace from a soapy head. Nose is of dark breadiness, and woodiness, grassy and floral hops and some general spicing. Taste is similar, general woodiness and a grassy/mossy/herbal feel with a touch of light caramel. Taste like the Boreal forest? lolwut? Finishes dry and bitter, with tons of dark bread and grain here. Medium carbonation, and lasting bitterness from teh hops. Relatively drinkable, and well crafted. Certainly quite different from anything I would typically pursue.

This rusty brew is intense and imposing, with organoleptics of toffee, butter, caramel and yeast layered around a minty pine-y center. Some citric hints sneak through on the tongue, to unfortunate effects as it clashes with the darker flavors. Furthermore the palate is flabby and coarse with a premature finish. Extremely unfocused with some questionable choices made regarding the hops.

A - deep copper brown, nice tall tan bubbly tan head that retained and laced well
S - spicy herbal hops are prominent, nutty smoky malts, some hints of tobacco and citrus
T - the spice, herb, and slight smoky flavours up front, there is some nuttiness, then the hop bitterness leaves a dry and even salty taste
M - thin and somewhat bubbly, but as advertised the dry bitterness is high, reminding me of haven eaten some kind of salt cured meat
D - i'm generally a fan of the more bitter offerings, this is good but a little too far in that respect to be very drinkable, while the flavours are interesting it does not have thirst quenching properties

Copper-brown, with a very thick white head. Nutty, malt smell with strong hints of yeast, bread and toffee. Mild, somewhat low hop profile.

I was expecting a bit more malt to this, but I actually find it slightly bitter and somewhat sour. The hops really shine through, though the malts are quite defiant and still make themselves felt.

Nice, light carbonation. A big beer, and very nice to drink.

Red/amber in color with a nice bubbly head. Smell of sweet malts, molasses, caramel. In the mouth I instantly noticed a black fruits taste, followed by some caramel malts. I find that it's a little bit too sweet, but it'S not bad.

This brew pours an impressive cherry, mahogany hue with beautiful carbonation that leaves behind a very frothy two finger head and nice lacing here, there and everywhere, the smell is a mix of aromas of sticky date pudding, dark plums, cherries and dark malts,it has a nice fullish mouthfeel just above medium bodied whcih is lively carbonated, the taste starts off with the dark fruit flavours with a middle body of toffeee malts and it finishes very bitter indeed so bitter that i noticed it was which isnt the norm for me as i do love my hoppy beers but in saying that after the next glass i quite enjoy this bitterness, its definately an interesting brew that showcases sweet and bitter with a touch of more bitterness than sweet which i dont think i could compare with any other brew i have tried if someone asked what's it like compared to? as it definately stands alone with its different, unique but nice mix of flavours and i will revisit this thats for sure.

A- Pours a reddish brown color that is hazy, but not to the point that it can't be seen through. The head is amazing, retaining it's two plus inch thickness and whipped cream texture....it's also a beautiful cream color. The lacing is also very impressive, leaving behind lots of foamy goodness on the side of my pint glass!

S- It has a rich malty character, being of toffee and dark brown sugar initially. There is also a subtle fruitiness that is of peach and/or nectarine, mixed in with dark fruits such as plum or dates. Also, the finish is nice and earthy, smelling somewhat of soil and somewhat woody.

T- Good strong malts are balanced by a roasted charm that is of toasted bread/biscuits on the front. The second half of the flavor profile is dominated by hops, and there's lots of it! I usually don't have a real hopped up brew but this one is welcome, as the two phases of flavor are distinct and well rounded.

M- Medium-full bodied and a good load of carbonation glides over the palate, although the bubbles aren't zippy and help bring out the bitterness of the finish. The earthy, leafy character really comes to life in this brew.

D- While I do like this beer, one bottle is more than enough for me, as it's a powerfully flavored beer and the hops are more than enough to satisfy my tastes! The alcohol is very well hidden I think this would pair really well with salty foods and think I'd get this one again, as long as I have someone to share it with.

Poured into a beckera deep amber brown with a full one and a half finger off white head.Big brown sugar and prune in the nose with a just a light touch of herbal hops...very light.Flavors start out somewhat sweet with brown sugar and toffee with a drying doughiness coming in halfway keeping the sweetness somewhat in check.Seems bigger than what it is to me,a little sweet but not bad overall.

No bottling date that I see.

A: Pours a dark reddish-brown. Tall, fluffy light brown head. Great head retention and thick, substantial lacing.

S: Pleasant dark fruits and caramel sweetness. Figgy with raisins. Sugary. Some toffee and a hint of bread. Maybe even some brown sugar. Really nice sweet maltiness in general.

T: Huh, not nearly as sweet as I was expecting. Up front there is some herbal hoppiness followed by a little toffee. Lots and lots and lots of crusty bread. Quite earthy too, especially towards the finish with more of that herbal spiciness. Lingering bitter, drying earthiness and herbal character.

M: Medium bodied, smooth and dry.

O: I expected a bit of a sweeter beer but this one is herbal, earthy and dry. I think I was expecting something more like a sticke doppelbock. This thing is seriously herbal and bread crusty. Not bad but a little too one-note at points.

The only other Altbier I've ever had is Schlösser, which was OK, but this is completely different so far so I might have a hard time rating to style.

Pours a reddish brown with a finger and a bit of tan head. Tons of lacing on the sipping side of the glass. The Schlösser was darker but I don't remember it looking this good. Hazelnut, toffee, malted milk and green woody hop aromas jump out of the glass.

Doesn't taste as overwhelmingly malty as the nose suggests. Nutty with peppery and boozy phenols, dark fruit and a bitter and slightly metallic finish. An undertone of sweetness from the malts which is hard to pin down. Something like bubblegum or possibly a scented eraser. A lot of flavor.

Full mouthfeel with just a hint of tingly carbonation. This beer has a lot going for it but the flavors are all a bit too prominent - it never really gels - which is fine for one or two but I couldn't drink more of it. Very nice in small doses, though.

A: The beer is hazy amber brown in color. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that died down a bit, leaving a thi head covering the surface, a collar around the edge of the glass, and some lacing on one side.
S: Light aromas of toasted malts and herbal hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has flavors toasted malts and herbal hops with a light amount of bitterness. Hints of raisins are also noticeable.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather bitter for the style but is interesting nonetheless and quite complex to other altbiers.

A translucent mahogany pour with lots of billowy off-white head. Dies down after a minute or two, but leaves lots of pretty lacing and a pillow of foam on top of the beer. Very attractive.

Dark malts were the first thing that hit me with this one, combining both caramel/toffee and dark fruit flavours. Some earthy/woody hop presence is definitely there too. Smells promising, though could be a bit more powerful.

In the taste, fruity dark malts (mostly cherry for me) and caramel flavours are balanced out with earthy/herbal hops. A very dry, bitter finish keeps me going for more and more sips.

Nice full mouthfeel with plenty of carbonation.

This isn't a style I generally seek out, but I enjoyed this more than the altbiers I've had in the past. The distinct bitterness made for an interesting drink, even if it was a bit too dry for me in the finish. Regardless, I'll have no problems finishing off the 750.

A: Pours a hazy brownish amber in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and some deeper red highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a slightly thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Upfront there are light amounts of toasted malts with a hint of sweetness. Light to moderate amounts of herbal hops towards the finish.

T: Upfront there is a light flavor of toasted caramel and grainy malts with a very light hint of sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of herbal and floral hops that contribute a light amount of lingering bitternes.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Interesting in that this beer is slightly more hoppy than I have come to expect for the altbier style (especially having spent a couple of weeks in Dusseldorf). The flavors are a little more bitter and more complex than others in the style.
