"Wow now that is some head" is the first thing that comes to mind when I vigorously pour this one and get half dark tan head and half jet black body. Leaves large size holes of fat lace as it fades. Very nice hoppy nose for a porter. Malt feel is also balanced in the smell. Slightly soured as it enters the mouth. It is actually thinner than what I had expected from the nose and look. Sour hoppy feel is dominent on the palate and finish. Overall the soured maltiness is the base of the mouthfeel. I cant say it is the most drinkable, could be a little more balanced.

Sample at the brewpub: Blackish color with a medium and dense tan head that dissipates slowly. Sheets of lacing coat the glass. The aroma is equal parts malt and coffee. Medium-bodied and smooth with chocolate, coffee and malt flavoring. The finish is roasty but short with a weak showing of hops on the finish. This one started off well and ran out of gas a bit, but still above average overall.

Poured out to a nice coffee black appearance with a short lived head. No lace. Low carbonation. Aromas of chocolate and coffee were easily detected and very rich. Flavor was malty and chocolatey, with a slight buttery smoothness on the palate. Decent mouthfeel could've been improved by better carbonation. The drinkability was again affected by the lack of carbonation, which made me think I had cold coffee in my mouth. Still a decent offering. Worth a try.

Very dark body with a bit of lace. Bit of smoke, carbonation about right. Malty aroma. Quite drinkable. Usual suspects of chocolate malt and a tad coffee, neither standing out. Mouthfeel is on the full side.Serviceable porter and not to be missed if here.
