I have been here on numerous occasions over the years. At first I loved the place, but it seems to have gone down hill somewhat as of late. The atmosphere is the best thing about this place. It is dimly lit and it feels kind of like you are in a really nice lodge-like building, but in an old downtown building- very unique. I used to be in love with the food (the cheddar and ale soup is still to die for), but it seems to be served cold more than hot anymore and they no longer have their home-made mustard. They do have some unique options on their menu, but it tends to be more bland than exciting and it is like $8 for a burger, with the toppings being a la carte and the fries being extra too- a tad expensive if you ask me. The beer is worthwhile- their Oktoberfest was a very odd but satisfying take on the style. It is obvious that this place is a restaurant first and a brewery second, but there is a decent selection beer-wise, just nothing all that exciting. I would love to see one of these Ann Arbor breweries try a Russian Imperial Stout or even a DIPA or even something a little off the wall. There was just your standard pale ale, red ale, ESB, golden ale, porter, Irish stout, Oktoberfest... But I suppose they have to keep the passers by happy. The last thing that I will discuss is the service... It has always been average, but the last two times I have been kind of disappointed. When I went about a year ago (I didn't go for a year because of this), the waitress was fine until we were done with our food. Then we sat there for about 25 minutes and we realized that things were getting excessive. Then we began looking for her, and she was serving all of the tables around us but neglecting us. This went on for another 15 minutes before I decided to go find a manager and she must have thought I was going to leave without paying when she asked "Oh, do you want your check?" I just glared at her and said "Yes. Yes I do." This last time I went the waitress gave me the wrong beer, then forgot about my date's appetizer, then brought me the wrong food and just seemed to be very confused most of the evening. Overall, it is worth a try if you don't have to wait a long time, but if the place is crowded, experience has told me your service will suffer.

Another cool spot on the streets of Ann Arbor. I wish they had a better beer selection. Wasn't impressed with their in house IPA or their Sour Wheat Ale either. Cool outdoor patio area we were able to bring our dogs and sit under the sun. They even have a doggy treat menu.

This was like a second home to me, and I can't say enough good things about the staff here. Great food and a menu that changes often to go with a hand full of great beers. Always have a couple casks conditioned beers available and they have rotating beers probably every week if not every couple of days.

The food we didn't really eat, we just had an appetizer which were soft pretzels, the pretzels were nice and soft but the sauce was not good at all but luckily their Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard saved it, the beer selection was small but not too bad though. I had a Bear Paw Porter which was really good it had hints of Roasted Coffee beans and Hazelnut I then had the County Cork Irish Stout. This is a very watered down version of a Stout. It was not good in fact I don't even want to finish hut I don't waste beer. The service was quiet but they brought our food and beer on a timely manner. Don't know if I would go here again because the beer didn't meet my standards.
