50cl aluminum can with standard pull-tab purchased at a Siwi in Kuopio, Finland for ~2 euro. Expectations are low (this is a supermarket off-brand beer). Served cold into a pilsner glass at low altitude in Kuopio, Finland. Reviewed live as a pale lager. Best before: 16/01/16.

4.50% ABV.

No bubble show forms as it's poured.

HEAD: ~1 inch wide. White colour. Foamy. Not real thick or full. Retention is subpar - ~1 minute. Leaves no lacing as it recedes.

BODY: Clear pale copper of average vibrance. Clean, with no visible yeast or hop sediment.

Looks generic for the style. Underwhelming. Looks like beer...

AROMA: Honey, medicinal fruity notes vaguely redolent of cough syrup, and overly sweet cheap malts. No hop notes come through.

I find no yeast.

The medicinal off-notes are off-putting. I'm not looking forward to trying it at all.

Aromatic intensity is average.

TASTE: Cheap sweet malts, corn adjunct, off-putting medicinal fruitiness, barley, and generic sweetness. Simple and plain as could be, with devastating shallowness and zero intricacy whatsoever.

Average duration and intensity of flavour. Unbalanced. Not gestalt. Very cheap tasting across the board.

Not liking this.

TEXTURE: To its credit, it's not watery or metallic. Smooth, wet, unrefreshing, light to medium bodied, and overcarbonated.

There's no harmony between texture and taste. This mouthfeel lacks any care or attention, and fails to accentuate any specific flavours or to elevate the beer as a whole.

OVERALL: Drinkable swill. A true "student beer," and not a beer I'd bother with again. But it'll get you drunk, and the price point is impossible to beat by Finnish standards. I'd strongly recommend avoiding this; it has nothing to offer the discerning drinker. But it's not a bad choice for a cheap buzz.

Will pair well with Hungry Man dinners and divorce paperwork.
