Sep.2004: Cask conditioned at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004. Malty caramel aroma. Cereal and delightful (? - can’t read my own handwriting) hops in the flavour. Good beer!

500 ml brown bottle of Inveralmond Thrappledouser with a BB date stamp of Jul 2016.

Pours with a bright body that is amber rather than red and is coated by a bubble off-white head. The head has good retention and leaves fine patterns of lacing on the glass.

Aroma: very good and nicely malty but not striking in any way.

Flavor: more flavor than the aroma suggests, with plenty of medium malts and very well chosen hop counterparts.

O: recommended!

500ml bottle with freshness date 17 months away (into my forties: I might make it but the beer won't). Amber coloured with a sherbet and caramel nose. Surprisingly earthy caramel start with metallic hops and a slightly spicy finish. Not really my thing, but certainly a well coordinated beer.

500ml Bottle from Aldi, Scotland (£1.69):
A beer that I quite enjoyed and it certainly came out as one of the best from the ten beers I picked up in Aldi recently. Good balance of earthy malts & hops with a pleasantly sweet backing & some decent bitterness throughout; one I'd pick up again.

On cask at Prince of Wales in Aberdeen Scotland.

A: Pours a bright and clear copper/reddish color. At first a two finger white head forms, but recedes to a ring. Sticky lace is left behind.
S: Really well balanced. At first citrus and floral hops with a spicy and earthy aroma are big and up front. A nice sweetness balances everything out. Lots of bread and biscuit as well.
T: Follows the nose. Plenty of citrus and spicy hops. Floral hops as well. A nice sweetness balances everything out. Though the bready and biscuit malt is even better.
M/D: A medium body and carbonation. Very creamy and smooth. So easy to drink. Just a bit high for a traditional session beer, but one I can enjoy all day.

This is great. Another excellent English Pale Ale from Inveralmond. A brewery that is quick becoming a favorite of mine in the UK. Highly recommended.

Half pint on cask at the Guildford Arms, Edinburgh, UK. Picked it out of the other 9 cask ales available because of the goofy name, and was not disappointed.

Poured surprisingly dark with a half inch creamy white head. Sweet, if difficult to place aroma. Surprisingly sweet taste, with a bit of brown sugar and extremely mild hops. Almost a milky, lactose flavour in there that makes it somewhat unique. Malty, cakey aftertaste.

Different, and definitely worth trying. Wish I'd had time for more!

Enjoyed on cask at the Priory Arms, South Lambeth, SW8. (2nd half of the pint was had with a packet of bacon flavoured crisps, which suited the pint exceptionally well.)

appearance:
Amber with gold highlights, and a finger of white foam at the top. Head was not "shaving cream" full, yet still lasted to the bottom of the pint.

smell:
Fresh and appetizing, with creamy maltiness, a little sweetness, and a slight hoppy tang. Sweeter and maltier than your average pint of premium bitter. Very appealing.

taste:
Exactly what the nose would lead you to believe. More fruity than malty, with a sweetness rather more sugary than malty, and a light smoky and grassy finish which was by far my favorite aspect of the beer. I wish it finished a bit drier.

mouthfeel:
Feels very soft, with a touch of richness. Lively carbonation gives a welcome edge. (And for the record, it's a marvelous foil for the bacon-flavoured crisps. Provides a complimentary sweetness with a lightening texture. Good combo.)

drinkability:
Strictly average. Slightly too sweet and soft for my palate.

On cask. Bright auburn color with a thin head - a fine looking pint. Aroma of earthy hops (I agree, Goldings are in this brew) and toasty-sweet maltiness.

Ahh, the balance - the hops and malt are good friends, and like each other quite a bit. Great blending of earthy English hops and slightly sweet, toffee and cracker like maltiness. Just sort of envelops your taste buds in a very nice manner. Could drink this for a week, happily.

A fine cask ale.

The name won me over so I had to try it. Reddish brassy colour, seems to have dropped bright with a thin bone colour lace floating on top. Obvious East Kent Goldings hops used (hopback?) with a sweetish, oily and earthy flavour and aroma. Good foundation of malt that has a light twang of crystal malt (?). This was one of the best at NERAX, I could not get enough of it and it was a hoot to say the name.

Unsure of the style-category for this. Inveralmond website describes it as "a refreshing amber beer with reddish hues.. ..it's crisp hoppy aroma..." . Enjoyed on cask at Nerax.... Copper in color with a nice head, but leaving no lace... Very mild hoppy nose. Medium body/tongue. Hoppy and fruity throughout, evidence of it's cask-nature, with a crisp, dry finish.
