Melbourne Wine Room

theres really only two reasons i go to this place. gippsland gold on tap, and wine.

its a cavernous sort of place that in many ways looks like a science room more than a bar. with a high ceiling and tiled floors, the acoustics can also prove a little overwhelming at times.

really, this is a place to go if you like good wine, not beer. and the 5 ratings here are more reflective of their wine list than their beer (i know this isnt a wine site haha) but the quality and range of wines is outstanding. they do have gippy gold on tap as i said, and MG hightail and sometimes one or two others. they do very good feed here too.

be prepared to pay thru the nose tho. is quite pricey, and they dont do pints (halves/pots only). still, worth having a look at.

the bar downstairs is much better for beers tho, and is quite cosy. not to mention the excellent slogans they have on their blackboard out front eschewing the benefits of drinking beer.

having said all this, the george is probably the best place to drink in st kilda. the rest of the places in the neighbourhood are wannabe yuppie heaven.
