Previewed this somewhat yeasty experiment. Full flavour and sweet. Will be less sweet as it ages. Liked the yeast aroma and taste, chewy mouthfeel. Some may say over-the-top but that's what makes this and other good microbreweries and their experiments interesting for us beer brigaders.

Appears a hazy mahogany with a thin tan cap that slowly fades out into a mild cap. Tons of lacing bits are left around the glass.
Smell is of tart grain, caramel, and brown sugar with a hint of cherries.
Taste is of the tart grain, caramel, brown sugar, light apples, black cherries, and cinnamon.
Mouthfeel is tart, obviously infected, stinging the front of the tongue and prickling the palate with carbonation and acidity.

I paid 23 bucks for this at Capones????
F ME!!!

Ironically enough, I see that Bullfrog released a version of this called Friar Frog Dubbel Gone Wild...the same beer dosed with Brett. Hmmm. I'm wondering if they realized the regular one was infected (not in a good way) and re-labled the bottles. It doesn't look like the other reviewers who had the non-bottled versions got what I got. I shared this with hopdog, who had it both ways and said this was surely a different beer.
Huge dissapointment. Next time, I won't be so quick to ante up money for these bottles.

On tap. Pured a dark mahagony color with a small off white head. Aroma and tastes of dark fruits and toffee.

Rerate. 750ml bottle shared courtesy of weare128128adbc##-=. Poured a deeper amberish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, cherries, yeast, and some nuttiness. Tastes of dark fruits, caramel, and some nuttiness. This one had a sour and tartness that seemed out of place.

Thanks to Tim for sharing this.

A: The pour is a dark amber, perhaps copper, with a short lived tan head.

S: Nice caramel and malt notes, some bread in there as well. Definitely a lot of apples, sort of like cider. It smells quite oxidized as there is a bit of cardboard to it as well.

T: Mild dark fruits such as raisins and plums. Toffee, bread, and caramel. There is a hint of spice notes from the yeast as well as some of the cider notes that were present on the nose. More of the oxidization and cardboard here as well, too.

M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation.

O: Seemed incredibly oxidized and not all that good. Interesting to try, though.
