Served in a tulip. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a hazy golden color with a good white head and a touch of lacing. Pretty good retention and a slight bit of lacing on the way down. The nose brings forward a bit of funky hay plus some lemony citrus. Somewhat acidic. The flavor doesn't quite hit these high notes, but offers a good amount of lemon, citrus, tart fruits, and a bit of funk. Feel is light with some prickly carbonation and a mildly-acidic finish. Drinkability is pretty damn good. I liked it.

Thanks for sharing this tick, Jeff! 750ml bottle into snifter. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a short lived white head that faded into a lasting collar. Tart funky golden fruits on the nose mixed with mellow funky earth. Smells tired for its age. The mouth is muted with mellow notes of raspberries, citrus, mushroom funk and earth. More tart fruits come through as the beer warms, but lucky overall the beer isn’t very acidic. Mediumish body, drying yet greasy mouth. Overall past its prime and showing its age, but considering the beer it is still very drinkable.

golden amber with a light cloudiness to it that was very evident as soon as your poured it. Nice head of white reaches up to a height of around three inches before settling back down and leaving just a nice quarter inch layer across the top that stayed with it throughout the session, lots of carbonation streaming up as well throughout.

The aroma was to die for. Sour, tart fruit notes just ripping through the air. Not so heavy on the vinegar in the smell, more of a sour apple like nose with lots of funk. As it warmed like notes of oak coming through way in the back and a fresh grapefruit like hoppiness. The flavor was explosive. My tongue took a bath in rich sour notes here. Lotso f fruit all over the place, pears, apricot, lots of grapefruit, and then that funky brett just hits you and wipes it all away. Puckering, but yet subtle and sweet at the same time. Words escape me.

Douglas88 is a badass. Doug pulled this one out at a recent tasting... Awesome!! Pours hazy golden with almost no retention... but I'm not really complaining.

Nose is heavy on the oak/chardonnay ... great vinous and lactic sour notes... green apple and underripe pear.... green plum.

Flavor is not nearly as sour as the palate lends itself... odd phenolic bandaid flavors.... oak is tannic and too much up front.. some white peach essence makes the way to the front on later pours.

Okay... nothing is gonna shatter the spectrum .. More deep fruity sour components would ring my bell... but... not this time around.

Color is a hazed straw golden yellow. Has a white head.

Aroma: Lemon zest with a lot of oak and brett. A little bit of spice. Kind of funky. It is really sharp. A little be light of a nose.

Taste: Lemon zest and a lot of funky brett. Grassy hops. It is acidic. It is not medicinal at all for how funky it is and I really like that aspect about the beer.

Mouthfeel: Tart with a lower amount of carbonation and a light to medium body. Ends a little dry and tart.

Overall, not what I was expecting this to be. It is good, but nothing I was going crazy for. I was glad to get to try this one.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange color with a nice white head that gives some good lace. Aroma is very nice with accents of sweet fruit and sourness, like sour apples. Some grape and oak type notes as well. Light mouthfeel. The taste has some decent flavors as well with some mild acetone type notes but other than that some good fruit mixed with some oakiness. A pretty nice beer that surpisingly people at the tasting didn't kill right away. I was lucky enough to get several pours and enjoyed every one.

Big thanks to Treyrab for this one - decided to pop it open for review #500. Poured from a 750mL caged-and-corked bottle into my Drie Fonteinen tumbler.

Cloudy selective yellow/butterscotch body with a thin smattering of dense very delicate magnolia foam. Very active head with decent retention for the style. Jumpy sandy lacing.

Tart, sour, oaky aromatics somewhere between citrus and vinuous - with a pleasing funk complexity from the organisms in the wood.

Quinine, pomelo, ginger, kiwi, lemon zest, and a low herbaceous complexity on the palate. The flavors are pure but not assertive, so the tartness and funk are kept in check in deference to drinkability - still this has plenty of "wild" notes (horse sweat included, though you won't mistake this for a lambic) for lovers of the style. Dry oaky finish suggests mineral-heavy champagne.

Light bodied but fairly effervescent with a slightly creamy texture.

Another unique brew from Bullfrog - I'm lucky to have ready access to Russian River and Lost Abbey's sours, but Bullfrog is worth seeking out as well...

Really great surprise on tap the day of the Jaspers release.

A: hazy golden, no head

S: sour fruit, undertones of must. Lemony goodness and nice funk.

T: really nice fruit character, lemon peel, funk, and earthiness. I wasn't expecting this to be so good.
M: low carb but not an issue. Medium bodied.

D: awesome on tap and I'm glad to try. Like I said, wasn't expecting this to be on tap or that good and was possibly my favorite of my 2 days at Bullfrog.

On tap at grey lodge for a pa brewery event with scoats and lew, thanks guys for doing the leg work. I love this city!

Liquid comes out a liquidly sunshine copper orange with slight haze. Off the pump there are just traces of foamy bubbles on top, dissipating into nothing. A very still beer here, lifeless. Smell is of apple skins and bretty funk. Some hay and the like earthy grassy aroma with no real citrus going on. Taste is of a temptation clone without the wine barrel addition. Brett and apple with hay and sour funky stuff, not overly funky or sour, just enough to know your going to have bubble guts in the morning, in fact I hear them rumbling down the corner as I type. Feel is pretty much bone dry with a light feel and pucker to it. Carb is out of the picture here off the pump but there is a sense of life from this. The drinkability is.off the charts because this is a sour ale and I like the style a bunch and I just want more of it. I would of never thought I get the chance on this but here it is in front of me, off the handpump no less.

On cask at the grey lodge. With the real beer fly giving a run down of the beers. Good work scoats and lew.

A- slightly hazy golden yellow, like hay when the sun rises. No head to be seen just the faintest of rings around the glass.

S- sour apples and lemon juice. Wet hay and some barnyard funk. Almost tingles as you get deep into it.

T- tart and funky with juicy myer lemons and under ripe granny smith apples. All the horse blanket and barn yard with a underlieing and subdued sweetness. Hint of oak and tannins.

M- pucker and salivate. No carb just a hint of tingle but christ how old is this cask and shit its on hand pump. Medium body that coats a bit then is washed away by the saliva flood. Dry finish.

D- I'm going to go to the hospital on this one. Nuff said.

Had this 5/7/10 on-tap at Bullfrog (Jaspers release day).

A-Body is a uniformly translucent dark, slightly dingy golden yellow hue. Served with only a thin white fizzy collar-but good retention of the collar.

S-Nose offers lots of lemon and funkiness as well as hints of vinegar and acidic tartness. Nose is quite Gueze-like.

T- Moderate presence of vinegar upfront as well as tart lemon and a light tart acidic sourness. Finish is very good as it is a balance of vinegar, bready yeast, and acidic tartness. A slight sweet bready yeast lingers on.

M- Soft carbonation and a light to medium weight body.

D- This is a very good beer. Pretty much Gueze-like. Sour, but not incredibly sour, tasteful, and balanced. My favorite thing about this brew is the slight sweet breadiness that lingers beneath all the initial flavors. Wonderful opportunity to have this on-tap!
