The brewer worked originally at the old Ruddles brewery at Langham. Grainstore is just down the road from there and this beer is often believed to be a reincarnation of Ruddles County (not the present day watered down travesty from Greene King).the brewer denies this but clearly this beer was inspired by it.
I've had this in many places including the brewery itself .
Appearance is the typical amber traditional bitter colour with a good tight head with lacing which persists all the way down the glass.Taste is quite complex, perhaps partly because the brewer uses a blend of malts, there is toffee caramel and is beautifully offset by subtle hopping.A very moorish pint but definitely not a session ale.

Half cask at brewery. Dark clear amber pour, ring of off-white head, lacing. Sweet caramelly malt aroma. Taste is caramel, sweet, malty, creamy smooth.

A - Ruby orange and deep amber. Slightly below average head with light retention and some lacing.

S - A bit of toffee and caramel malt with some nuttiness. Flowery and berry. Slight tartness with a hint of ammonia-like scent.

T - Toffee and caramel, grainy malts provide the base for the beer. On top of that are some floral and earthy hops. Also a bit of fruitiness (touch of apple and red berry) that give a bit of tartness to the beer.

M - Medium starting to border on light body. Slightly below carbonation. Fairly drying end.

D - Pretty good drinkability. Goes down easy with well balanced flavors that are interesting on the palate and I want to drink more to better figure it out.

Notes: Intriguing beer that I can't quite fully understand. The fruitiness that is brought in is interesting, not the most refreshing fruit taste but good. I liked this better the more I drank, so I guess it fits well as a traditional English session beer. Worth trying if you get a chance.

Brown 500ml bottle obtained from the brewery on a visit earlier this year. Poured into a pint sleeve glass.

Clear, light to medium brown body, white foaming head on top at first, the head slowly losing depth and becoming a wispy covering and collar.

Flower garden smell, an English country garden at the height of its blooming period, must be growing toffee's though! I am a big fan of 'Fuggles hops' and their aroma. Although used in this brew, I couldn't detect them.

Biscuity, malty and fruity (apples, red berries and pomegranate). The flavours mix and semi-match, making this an interesting and complicated beer.

The 5%ABV is evident, but well balanced for the body and richness of the beer.

Out on the town in Leicester it's a must to drop into the Swan & Rushes..I was spoiled for choice with so many hand pumped real ales to sample. One that really stood out..the 10/50 from Grainstore Brewing, was a really fantastic full blooded English strong bitter.

Light brown in color..nice hoppy nutty aroma that was hard to miss and set up the old anticipation for that first sip! No disappointment here..a beautiful blend of malt & hops. Bitter and slightly dry but with a tasteful light sweet flavor in the mix.

This was one of my favorite beers of the many we sampled in the nearly 2 weeks of pub outings.. not strong by our standards in the N.W. U.S...but it should have your respect if you try to start on rounds of these. A wonderful beer!!

Tasted by half-pint at the Volunteer's Arms, GBBF 06. Dispensed by a hand-pump.

A: light brown in colour, a nice and tight foamy head on top, sustaining just fine... low carbonated body.
S: nice hoppy overnote and plenty of fruits, perfumy malts almost like aromatic nuts, plus wild-flowery scent of hops... Very aromatic nose with a good malty backdrop.
T: incredible length and depth of tea-leafy Fuggles hops manifests itself right from the beginning, plus an assertive edge of lime-zest like tangy feel as well as a peppery edge of hops, and lingering brown-sugary maltiness... superb aftertaste of hop-bitterness, leaving a tangy-dryish finish.
M&D: simply put, a great-tasting Premium Bitter--rounded, full-bodied, with hops threading through the nose and the whole palate elegantly... Highly recommended!!
