Q: Your average Beer/Wine/Liquor store...actually a little above average.

Svc: The beer guy I talked to (Mike?) greeted me upon entrance. We also had a hell of a conversation about beer and whiskey, and he seems to know his stuff (for both drinks). Didn't talk to the rest of the staff, but I think this guy is here just about every day.

S: Decent selection. Has your Indiana beers, and then a somewhat random selection of good beers. I found a few things here I haven't seen elsewhere or in a long time, like the Big Chouffe 2008 (I bought all 3 left). The selection was smaller than some other stores, but what they had (outside of the usual) was really good stuff. Overall a great medium-sized selection of specialty beers.

V: I don't really remember the overall pricing. I know that the Big Chouffe's I bought were reasonable, as well as the St. Bernardus 12 I suggested to another patron ($10.49 I believe, and that is within the average range).

I would swing through if you are around the store. I think it's buy a Wal-Mart over there and you've gotta know what you're looking for because it is just off the main road. You'll likely find something you've been looking for or seems interesting while you're there.

This is my "Home Base" liquor store for one reason. Mike the Beer Guy (or as I sometimes refer to him, "The Professor")
He keeps me up to date on new purchases, turned me on to DogFish and in general is the kind of resource you need when you know you want to buy something special but just dont know what.
The selection at the local store (Sunnyside and Pendleton Pike, Indianapolis) is good for a small to medium sized store. Other stores locally are larger with big selections but they arent as close or as friendly.

This is right down the street from my house, so it's become something of a regular haunt for me.

They have a very wide selection of imports, and are willing to do special orders through their distributor. Basically, if they don't carry but their dist. does, they'll get it for you.

The selection ranges from low-end micros to high-end imports, and everything in-between.

Their prices on most domestics are reasonable, but some of the imports are pricey. As an example, a 12oz Lindemans is almost $7, where I can get the 22oz at O'Malia's for $9. But they also have specials/clearance, and I got some Fullers ESB and London Pride for $1.50 per pint bottle.

I rated the service as high for one guy there. Most of the help there is typical liquor store help. But one guy, the beer guy, whose name I do not know, is exceptionally knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. He looks like a heavier Ron Jeremy, with a ponytail.

Overall, this is a great store, and I'll continue to support it.
