Appearance: Sudsy head on this golden ale. Pretty good lacing as well. A bit thin as far as carbonation goes. I would also expect this to be a bit murkier.

Smell: Bubblegum. Banana. Is this a hef?

Taste/Mouthfeel: Cedar/oak notes in the head. Tastes like this was stored in a barrel for sure. A bit of scotch in the finish. I really enjoy this as it warms. Feels crisps, but it doesn't balance the flavor well enough.

Overall Drinkability: Would taste amazing aged for a while.

Golden and somewhat hazy with a few yeast particulates floating around, nice sediment layer remains in the bottle. Bright white head fades to a fine, soapy residue surrounded by a bubbly ring. Orange peel and pears are hinted at in the aroma along with a very light presence of pepper. Lemon and oranges are the flavor upfront, fading to a cantaloup and the slightest spice. Effervescent and light, finishing slightly dry.

Stylistically, it could be brighter but a spot-on Belgian flavor/aroma profile more than make up for that. A delicious American-made Belgian-style golden strong ale.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, 7/10/2011 date stamped on the bottom. Pours hazy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big apple, pear, pepper, clove, banana, grape, wheat, earth, and yeast spiciness. Pretty nice aromas with good complexity and decent balance. Taste of big apple, pear, wheat, bread, pepper, earth, grape, clove, and yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of light fruits, wheat, bread, pepper, earth, and yeast spices on the finish for a bit. Nice balance and complexity of flavors; zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a light, smooth, and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good Belgian strong pale ale. Nice complexity and balance of flavors; very smooth and crisp to sip on. Nicely enjoyable offering.

12 oz.

Pours a hazy lemon gold, white sudsy head dissipates to lacing quickly.

Smells of lemon, coriander, grassy herbal malts, and a hint of candi sugar.

Tastes of lemon, lemongrass, coriander, candi sugar and a light grassy herbal dryness.

Fuller body with prickly fluffy carbonation on the tongue and the roof of the mouth.

A good, flavorful ale, more in the vein of a saison but stronger than that would normally be and sweeter. Easy to drink. Not bad, would definitely have this again.

Poured from a bottle with no date code into a pint glass.

A: Poured aggressively and got 1 and 1/2 finger of head that dissipates quickly. Pours a golden orange color with nice lacing at first but it doesn't stick.

S: Horsy (which is a common trait for this style) with a malty smell in the background.

T: The first thing is spice: peppery. Then malt then sweet then spice. Very interesting.

M: Meduim-bodied. Goes down easy and really warms you up.

O: I like it! This is not a style that I am very familiar with. Goes down easy but I will have to enjoy it only at night. The alcohol content of 7.6% of this beer affects me more than I would have anticipated.
