I love this stuff. Smells like alcohol. Tastes like it. But also tastes like a delicious stout. Perfect when you want a Guinness but also want a buzz ;)

Bottle - 22 ounce to wine glass
Appearance: dark brown, with small medium light brown foam
Smell: aroma of malt
Taste: very good, Balance, medium bitterness
Mouth feel: good. Taste is no bold, follow through not long, like something is lacking
Overall: Very good beer, not to repeat nor look for.

Look: Draft at Iron Horse Brewery. Thin white head, dark brown body.

Smell : See below.

Taste : Chocolate, mild roast, mild nuttiness, and a bit of coconut.

Feel : Medium carbonation and medium-full body. Slightly sweet upfront, dry finish.

A very light appearance for a dark beer. Mild aroma. A little head. Taste is marginal for a dark beer that has a wide spread following in many restaurants. They need a good beer consultant.

Poured from a can, not as good as a freshly tapped keg, but still surprisingly tasty.
Nice and smooth without any harsh aftertaste for a dark rich ale.

This beer is a regular in my fridge. Very nice dark ale. You wouldn't know it's strength as it's a very subtle and tasty beer.
A six pack lasts me a while as it's not a beer I would drink a lot of, just a couple then move onto another brew.

22oz bottle served in a tall glass. Beer pours black, tinged with brown around the edges, with a small chestnut head. Aroma is of molasses and betrays a bit of the 7.6% ABV printed on the label.

For some reason I assumed this was a (double) Irish Stout based on the label and the color of the brew. But no, it's a Strong Ale. And knowing that it's intended to be a strong ale makes me appreciate the flavor significantly more. The flavor is a on the malty side, with commensurate alpha hops, but not at all roasty or nutty or creamy. Yes, the ethanol comes through on the palate, but other than that, the balance is pretty reasonable. Medium caramel barley character suggests to me Imperial Red Ale. Subtler flavors of licorice, possibly even figs or dates.
