Pours dark out of the can; a little hazy but without particulate. Nice head.

Couldn't tell if it was a porter or a stout, and then realized it is simply Iron Horse's take on a Guinness. Dark, smooth, and no overpowering notes besides the odor of burnt tire. Easy to not screw up if you don't try.

Very drinkable. The packaging pompous and horrible.

12 fl oz can
Served in a becker glass

This beer pours black. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves very little lacing.

The aroma is sweet and earthy. As it warms I get some roasted malt notes with cocoa and coffee.

The taste starts out sweet. Roasted flavors come out as it warms. I get hints of coffee and dark chocolate.

Moderate to light bodied

It drinks like a swarzbier even though it is an ale. It is definitely better as it warms.

Look: Midnight black with just the slightest tint of red when held up to the light. Caramel off white head that looks inviting then recedes quickly

Smell: sweet molasses mixed with a hint of alcohol

Taste: super sweet malt up front. A hint of apricot after swallowing and a bready finish with an ever so slight hop bitterness

Mouthfeel: Really thin and a bit disappointing considering the color and malty nose. The 7.8 abv probably had a lot to do with that

Overall: I did enjoy this brew. It had its ups and downs however. It's beautiful in the glass. The initial taste is amazing. However it finishes flat and its hard to get past the thin mouthfeel

22 oz bottle

Very dark ruby colored, almost brown. Thick creamy head. Malty aroma - burnt caramel, toffee, rum. Taste is fairly sweet, I'm surprised to see this categorized an American Strong Ale. I'd say Scotch Ale. Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel.
