Growler of "Redhorse" courtesy of Lindsey. Thank you for picking this up for me!

Pours a darker brown that shows some red hues when held to the light. Soapy inconsistent head melts to a thin ring with little surface coverage.

Something about the smell of the two beers (the other being River Pig Pale) from this brewery that reminds me of caramel covered red apple. Maybe these beers would benefit from some dry hopping to allow a certain hop profile to shine?

Taste is caramel malts forward, splash of orange citrus, red apple, and some nutty toffee on the finish.

Light bodied, a bit watery, but not nearly as bitter or metallic as some reds can tend to be. That metallic taste is a real bummer for me and this beer manages to avoid that pitfall.

Overall, a real easy drinking beer that is both light and refreshing. In my opinion much better than the Pale. I look forward to hammering down a few more beers from the Angry Minnow.

The Amber Ale was served in a Guinness style Pub glass (16 oz not 20). The beer is almost brown with nice garnet highlights. It has a sticky beige head & lacing.

The beer has a fresh aroma of caramel, milled grains and a bit of citrus.

The taste is right in the wheelhouse for a red. It starts slightly sweet with more caramel, whole grain bread and trailing bitterness. Actually the hops assert themselves more as the beer warms.

The mouth is sharp with steady carbonation and a bit of tongue coating oiliness. This is a good session beer as the taste is layered with enough complexity to keep you interested.
