Pours a ruddy amber color, with a massive creamy, foamy head which has a red tinge. All I am picking up on is cherry.Feel is creamy cherry, some hops, full bodied, creamy. Overall this takes like I burped after eating a cherry Rolaid. The cherry taste is nasty, A very artificial cherry flavor like in medicine eg; Cherry Pepto Bismol. I love cherries of all varieties and somehow they made this taste like cherry medicine. C'mon, how many hundreds of years do you need to make a palatable brew?

My absolute go to craft beer. I picked this up randomly one day and fell in love with it. It has such a refined sweet cherry taste but is also slightly tart and has a full body and mellow hops at the end. It smells fantastic and it one of the few beers I can accidentally chug if I'm not careful and go for another.

While it had a really nice appearance and a very good feel to it the flavor was slightly off Putting. Aroma was cherry candy and juice. Taste was very similar,as it warmed some grain/cereal and malt came through but the cherry dominated. It tastes almost like sparkling cherry juice, not fruit beer

Poured from a tall bottle into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Clear copper maroon pour with 2 fingers of pink tinged head. Falls fast... solid lacing.

S: Cherry juice. Fruity and sweet.

T/F: Simple... sweet/tart cherry, light grains... but mostly fruit juice. Not too sweet which is nice. Light bodied... effervescent carbonation.

O: A really tasty cherry fruit beer. Great flavor.. not to sweet... delicious.

Poured from A 500ML bottle into a tulip glass. The appearance is a semi-clear rose color with a small pink colored head. The aroma is cherries and a faint wine backdrop. The taste is sweet cherry with a nice ale finish.

A solid fruit beer. Their apricot is nicer and more delicate; depends how much you like cherry flavour. As it's authentically cherry flavour, it tastes and smells a lot like certain medicines. A very good fruit beer. Like any Sam Smith's, smells and tastes unnervingly like the fruit, but this is not their nicest beer. All their beers are great, but this may be their least nice.

Red in color with moderate haze. A 3 finger pink head leaves decent lacing.

Smell is maraschino cherries, and if I use my imagination, chocolate covered cherries.

Sweet cherries, tart cherries. More sweet than tart. Very fruity, just the occasional barest hint of bitterness.

Medium bodied, minimally crisp and rather creamy with a bit of syrup. Drying in the end.

One of the best, if not the best, of the fruit beers I've tried. Nicely done.

L: hazy dark cherry red under a 2" pink tinted foam blanket with good retention

S: very big cherry aromas but biscuit aromas in the background evoke a fresh cherry tart

T: cherry biscuit up front but become much more cherry dominated in the middle and then it ends with cherry pie

F: very creamy mousse-like texture and very soft carbonation in a medium body

O; cherry is very big but does not completely dominate the malt

Samuel Smith Old Brewery "Organic Cherry"
550 ml brown glass bottle, production coded but without freshness dating
$5.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Look: Very hazy ruby red body beneath a full head of frothy pinkish foam.

Smell: Cherry. Sweet cherry, even Maraschino cherry. Some grainy malt.

Taste: As the aroma suggests without change. Very cherry. Some malt, some minimal bitterness. More malty in the finish with a touch of grassy/leafy hops, and surprisingly semi-dry.

Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp then smooth and almost creamy.

Overall: An exceptional fruit beer that should probably be reserved mainly as a dessert beer but which could be pulled out now and again as something different to break things up.

Awesome beet red/red zinfandel colored body with a bubble gum pink head. Head lasts awhile and leaves lace on the sides of the glass.

Aromas of bright cherries, fresh clean rubber, musty wood flooring, horehound, and cherry bubble gum.

Flavor is like cherry cough drops. Very medicinal both on the front and back end. In the middle I get only a dash of fresh cherry, followed by mineral water, and the 0 calorie lemon-lime sparkling water. It's both very artificial tasting and medicinal.

Feel is pretty good - it's got the right amount of carbonation, and a nice fruity stickiness to it that adheres to the gums and teeth.

Overall, this is probably the worst Sam Smith fruit beer and not worth its price tag.

Right after opening the bottle you get the cherry right off the bat. Pours an absolutely beautiful red color and got a nice head.First sip and it's almost like a cherry soda drink if that's how I can explain it best. A nice tart aftertaste to it. Not overly sweet which I'm very happy about. I don't want to feel like I'm drinking a wine cooler and the tartness balances this out perfect. Fruit beers are something I have to be in the mood for and drink in a very rare blue moon but I'll definitely revisit this one again as most others I've tried in the past I can't say the same about. Definitely give it a try. A good go to on a hot Summer afternoon.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a super nice two and a half fingered white to a tint of reddishness in the head. The head must have lasted for at least a good three minutes before it even decided to dissipate. Once it did, there was a super thick amount of lacing gracing the sides of the glass very nicely. The smell was tart cherries. The taste was tart, sweet and has a touch of sourness but in a good way to complement the flavoring. With a slight refreshing yet crisp cherry aftertaste, the finish ends up being quick and refreshing. On the palate, this one sits about a medium on the body with a superb sessionability about this one. Wow, I feel like I could pound this all day! Overall, I didn’t expect this one to be so sessionable. This is an exceptionally well done beer and should be the benchmark for cherry beers.

Decanted into a tulip pint glass.
A: Slightly hazy light ruby color with frothy, persistent pink head.
S: Cherry and biscuit.
T: Cherry at the front, with molasses and anise on the back end.
M: Medium body, but with a syrup quality in feel. Nicely persistence effervescence.
O: Drinks like a cherry soda, but much fuller bodied and less sweet. Enjoyed it; not for every day, but for an occasional treat.

L -- Pours a dark reddish amber with a 1.5 finger pink-hued head. Literally the color of cherry blossoms, very pretty
S -- Smells strongly of cherries and malts. Somewhat overly cherry-like. Smells a little fake
T -- Just like those Blue Sky black cherry spritzers you can find at your local co-op. Literally cannot perceive any alcohol
F -- Fizzy and soda-like. Sour finish
O -- More of a soda than a beer

Eyes and Nose: Pours ruby red with a bubbly pink head that holds for some time. Brilliant cherry and sugar notes with a touch of grape must.

Mouth: Feels like a cross between a juice and a sparkling wine, though not as effervescent.

Tart and sweet cherry flavor, balanced with a decent malt that makes this an incredibly smooth fruit ale. Subtle notes of grape, sugar, and yeast with a numbing sensation on the tip of the tongue.
Rating: This is like drinking grandma's cherry pie at Christmas. Make sure to grab a proper tulip or goblet so you can really enjoy te full bouquet of this beer. Just sweet enough to be a treat, while still being a good malty ale.

First had poured from 18.7-oz. bottle into tulip. This is a beautiful fruit
ale, but in an era of almost universally sour fruit beers, seems rather old-fashioned.

500 ml bottle served in a Belgian snifter; repeated using a Samuel Smith glass in October 2016.

Pours with a clear light ruby colored body topped by a thin, bubble head that soon reduces to a partial coat but manages to leaves some lacing.

Aroma: dried dark cherries with cherry jam and a few maraschino cherries.
Flavor: largely follows the aroma but is not as sweet as the aroma or description suggest, instead having a good level of balancing tartness.

Overall: excellent fruit beer for fans of cherry juice. Simple but delicious. Could almost be mistaken for an alcohol-free beverage.

355ml bottle into a 350ml beer glass.

Poured a ver red, dark brown with a tight frothy red-tinted head. Leaves a fine film down to the last drop. Lots of lacing. Very nice.

Lots and lots of cherry on the nose with a malty nuttiness coming through. Nice.

Extremely smooth and creamy, lots of cherry some malts, low bitterness. Sweet but drying. Perfect for me Lovely!

Absolutely lovely beer - I could drink this all day. I checked the website and apparently this is made with real cherries!

Highly recommended.

The beer is a dark cherry color (very fitting) with a pinkish foamy head and a lot of carbonation. I get a strong sweet smell of cherries but the smell disappears quickly and there is nothing else to it. The beer is not overly sweet but has a great taste of cherries. You get the sweetness and the bitterness of the fruit but the flavor is not overwhelming and finishes nicely.

Dark scarlet red, thin layer of foam, spotty lace.
Smells like cherry cough drops, artificial, nothing fresh picked here.
Taste is pretty sweet, artificial cherry candy flavor, little else beyond that.
Light bodied, ample carbonation, cloyingly sweet. Overall, not something i'd buy, but something beer novices will like, so far as it doesn't "taste like beer". Give me a traditional Oude Kriek anyday.

looks pretty in the glass after the pour.....
aroma is nice- slightly bitter cherries......
taste is alright. a little thin, but flavorful. may be a good thing it's thin, otherwise the attempt to flavor it accordingly might be too harsh.... decent.
overall, aside from being thin, it's pretty darned good!

Sampling right now on 2/6/16. Comes in a single 550ml (18.7 ounce) bottle for $5.99 at Hy-Vee. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a large "ROCK BOTTOM MUG CLUB" handled-glass stein.

Brew pours a hazy reddish-'wine' in color with a good 3+-finger foamy/creamy off-white head. LOTS of ring-like lacing is seen after each sip. Aroma is of LOTS of freshly-picked ripe cherries with some sweet malt. Taste follows the nose and isn't as sweet as it sounds. Slightly tart BUT goes down so easy. Medium-bodied with perfect carbonation. Fantastic brew!

This is a very cool looking beer in a glass. nice foamy head.. Smooth going down. but im a cherry freak. so i think it needs a little more cherry than beer part. But over all if your looking for real cherry and real sweet beer. this is your ticket to good times. Youll love the light red foam head on it. thats a very cool effect.

Alright, time for a drink.

Samuel Smith's Organic Cherry Fruit Ale.

A: A finger and a half or very light pink head. Nice, crystal clear plum color. Light sheeting, dotted with specks of foam (I think). Decent lacing; holds nicely. Greyish-pink in the dimple.

S: A nice, solid black cherry aroma up front. Slight malt backbone. The combination gives off the ghost of cherry pie.

T/MF: Very bright cherry hit. Slightly dry (for a generally sweet fruit beer). Maltiness is akin to slightly overcooked pie crust rim.

All in all, another nice fruit ale from Sam Smith.

Poured from a 18.7 oz. bottle, into a Belgian tulip glass.
