This beer was a more than satisfactory choice for my first review.

Color: Deep amber with a lovely gradient and almost two fingers of head

Aroma: Malty with a bit of citrus and hops. I almost instantly thought of honey lemon tea, actually. Not the most potent aroma, but this is not a complaint

Taste: Caramel, again, I thought of honey, a nice balance of hops and malt. Nothing too crazy, but there is plenty happening.

Mouth feel: Light carbonation, goes down smooth, and has a nice lingering aftertaste that doesn't take over your tongue.

Overall: I continuously read and hear that England knows how to pay attention to balance, and this beer is living proof. Can't wait to enjoy another!

my first review so please excuse the lack of description

color: rich amber

aroma: hoppy and fruity esters
taste: crisp followed by hoppy bitterness followed by smooth finish
motuhfeel: medium body but closer to the dry side

Poured this into a standard pint glass.

Rich red in colour with a white foamy head.

Smells of malts and grapefruit as well as malts.

A complex array of tastes including hops, malts, lemon, treacle and barley.

Goes down smooth with just the right amount of carbonation.

This is just a fantastic pale ale, complex layers of flavour and just a great beer. I'd recommend this to anyone.

a bit moderate carbonation with some bite. moderate body.

very good, loads of flavor for this english pale.

Poured into a standard pint glass. The beer is a slightly hazy orangish copper color. The off-white head settles quickly to a film with decent sticky lacing. The beer smells mostly of malts with a slight sweetness poking through. The beer tastes very malty with some caramel sweetness. The hop presence is there, but not dominant. A very well-balanced beer. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and very easy to drink.

Overall, this is a very easy drinking Pale Ale. There is a sort of musty feel about it that I find in all of Samuel Smith's beers, but I'm not saying that's a bad quality, I like it, and I think this beer falls in line with all of their other wonderful brews.

Appearance: Two fingers of head that retained like crazy and produced modest lacing. The body is the classic pale copper with steady carbonation, without a hint of cloudiness. A bit more lacing would earn the perfect score.

Smell: Well balanced caramel malt and fruity yeast with touches of piney hops. Warming didn't really help it's case and it's exceptionally good, but it's just not potent enough.

Taste: Nice sweet caramel malt that turns into a more fruity and yeasty note that is lightly dusted off with a decent but not overpowering hit of hops. There is nothing bad I can say about the taste of this beer. Nothing too complex, but nothing boring.

Mouthfeel: Exceptional transitioning as the experience seamlessly blends together. The carbonation assists the entire beer, the aftertaste is a present mild fruity malt. Once again, there is nothing I can complain about.

Drinkability: I little bit heavier then I'd expect, but still easy to drink regardless. Refreshing, keeps down nicely and smooth. I really like that the aftertaste never gets out of control.

Final Thoughts: I find myself finding the English and Scottish styles far better suited to my pallet then their American counterparts. I think this unseats St-Ambroise as my pale ale of choice. I think the best part is that they kept bitterness in check and didn't aim closer to IPA territory. Highly recommend this one.
