Enjoyed from the bottle (a great Christmas present--Thanks Steve!) in a pint glass, this FANTASTIC chocolate stout pours a very dark blackish brown with some glints of light shinning through on the sides with a HUGE tan head and superb lacing. Nose of chocolate....rich luscious organic beans with some deep roasted grains. Flavors are chocolate up front, on the back, on the sides....everywhere. A light roasted grain and coffee flavor comes through on the aftertaste making this one of the most astounding chocolate stouts I have had the pleasure of enjoying. Smooth creamy mouth feel and nice carbonation makes this lightly slick stout go down easy. Fantastic brew from Tadcaster!

Cheers

First time having this finally. Dark brownish black pour with off white head. Aroma of big roasty grains, some bakers chocolate. Flavor is the bittersweet chocolate up front and finishes with nice roasty bitter on the back end. Lingering chocolate on the palate. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, plenty of flavor. Nice stuff.

Sampled this evening on 12/27/14 but had this one before. This is a single 550ml (18.7 ounce) bottle but seen it in a smaller bottle in a 4-pack. Bottle has been in the back of the beer cooler since earlier in the year. Chilled down to 36 degrees F and poured in to a handled-g;ass stein.

Pours pretty close to a pitch black in color with a good 3-finger foamy/creamy beige head that stays around a while before settling down to around 4mm near the end of the drink. Some sediment is seen in the bottle of the bottle after the pour. A good amount of sticky lacing is seen when sipped. The aroma is very pleasant and is of cocoa powder for the most part. The taste is pretty much the same with lots of good chocolate flavor that is so very smooth that you don't think it is a brew at all. Of course no bitter aftertaste, just lots of great flavor. Probably the best style of this type of brew on the market. Medium-bodied with perfect carbonation for this style. Fantastic brew! Perfect in each category!

Not very stout, but certainly chocolaty. Sweet, with a little bit of a lingering, but pleasant, aftertaste. I'd consider it a dessert beer. Definitely not something you'd drink with a hearty meal, but then again it is chocolate.

Nothing complex about this beer, it tastes like chocolate, which is a good thing. This is a delicious beer at a really good price.
