What an amazing beer selection for an airport. I'm always used to the standard domestic, import and local craft beers in an airport but this place way over exceeds my expectations. Fat head head hunter, Coronado 19th anniversary to name a couple.

No way do you expect to see this in an airport! A decent selection of craft beer, around 25 to 30 I think. When you sit down to a glass of Dirt Wolf on your way home and after a long trip...well, it was quite enjoyable. OK, there is no atmosphere other than the typical airport bar and I did not have the food. But here's some of the other brand on tap; Founders, Firestone IPA, Stone IPA, Troeggs, Great Lakes, several Stoudts, Kane, Yards, Weyerbacher and Breckenridge. Other than the Stone beer pubs in the SD airport and the DuClaw at Baltimore, this is the next best I've come across. Wish there were more like this for frequent travelers.

eaten/drank here a couple of times waiting for a flight.

I believe they've got the most craft beer options of any place in PHL - about 20 or 25 of the taps. A good number of local Philly area breweries. Food is okay - about average for airport quick food. service was good. overpriced as expected.

I'm at the jet rock in the D terminal here at Philadelphia International. While the list technically has over 40 taps only a little over half is "craft beer". The place is absolutely jammed with but one or two open tables and no room at the bar. Considering this, the service is actually quite good. I had a beer within 5 minutes of sitting down at my table.

I'm not getting any food, and it seems the standard beer glass here is a ~20 oz. "brutus" glass like they use at Buffllo Wild Wings. The craft beers available are rather tame, but there is decent range of styles to choose from. They have a few pale/IPAs , browns, stouts, ambers, and a whole lot of lagers. I'm having a Hennepin and a Yard's Love Stout. Both came to abot $9.50 each. Not too bad for a ~ 20 oz pour in an airport, in my estimation.

The ambiance is akin to a poor man's Hard Rock Cafe with a smattering of musical plaques and memorabilia. There is a nice view of the D and E terminals out 2 of the back walls, if you're into that kind of thing. The are about 20 TVs n the joint (all old tube style) showing sports and CNN.

Overall - would recommend/ come back.

Visited in May 2012. The beer selection is great and the food's not bad for an airport bar. Service was good. Bacon cheeseburger was $12.95 and buffalo chicken salad was $12.00. 22 ounce Dock Street Rye IPA was an outrageous $14.95!!! You don't find this out until you get the bill. Worse yet, the Philadelphia Marketplace website touts a "Street Pricing Guarantee"!!! Shame on the Jet Rock Bar and Grill! I think they might be worse thieves for beer pricing than even the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ.

I have never been so badly ripped off in my life before. What an outrageous swindle, outright daylight robbery. Not even in the most expensive bar in London or NYC have I ever been robbed so badly as I was here tonight.

I ordered a 22 ounce draft cider, Angry Orchard Crisp Apple (OH) cider (ABV 5.0%) and was presented with a bill for...wait for it ... $16.45!

$16.45! Can you believe it?

How do these crooks and robbers sleep at night ?

this place is a massive rip-off and a swindle. Stay away ... there are much cheaper places to get a drink at PHL airport than this robbers' nest.

This is without doubt the WORST swindle I have ever encountered.

STAY AWAY!

The wife and I got out of a plane at PHL, exhausted after a whole day driving from Tulsa to Dallas, then flying to Philly and waiting to fly again to LGA-NYC. We get into the terminal, about to spend an hour there… and guess what! There is a bar with 48 taps waiting for us right by our gate!!! Definitely, god exists.

I thought I would faint, used as we are to shitty bars (even with good names like Brooklyn Brewery or Samuel Adams) serving bad pours of average beers at outrageous prices. Here at Jet Rock in Terminal B at PHL I saw Weyerbacher Merry Monks, Victory Hop Devil, Yards Brawler, Anchor Porter and Steam, Dock Street Rye IPA, Dogfish 60, Long Trail IPA and Hibernator, three Great Lakes taps including Fitzgerald and Burning River, two Troegs handles, Abita… plenty of crap on tap too, but who cares?

The downside to all this goodness is that a lot of the quality taps were out. Dogfish 60 was no more, Great Lakes Fitzgerald and Burning were the same and Merry Monks kicked while I was drinking it, but at least the nice bartender gave me the second almost-full pint for free. I love that she was honest, “I’m out of this”, “don’t get this food, it’s not so good”, and stuff. Philly style, straight up, I love it! She was also apologetic about the kicked taps.

She had praise for most of the food menu, though, saying it is made from scratch and stuff. Hell, we ordered the onion rings and they were some of the best! Lot of onion and less breading, great combo.

Good prices too, $6.50 for a full pint of Merry Monks, $8.50 for a huge 22-oz of Hop Devil, $5 onion rings. Great music as well, with Beck, Radiohead and Nirvana and definitely the BEST airport bar EVER.

A surprisingly good bar for an airport, with nearly 50 beers on tap, and open bright and early for thirsty travelers. I've only seen the Terminal D bar, and I hear the Terminal B is much better, but still, you're in the airport, you can't really pick and choose, and this place has lots of decent micro options. You'll see the typical macros, as well as selections from the likes of Victory, Harpoon, Anchor, etc. Nothing rare or unbelievable of course, but still pretty impressive. Atmosphere is generic sportsbarish, and of course, the crowd's going to depend on when you're there. Service is fine, and prices are about what you'd expect in an airport bar. Never sampled the food.

Terminal D

Stopped in while waiting for a flight. It lived up (or down, depending on your perspective) to the other reviews posted here.

The atmosphere was about what you'd expect in a busy airport bar, on the loud side but it was possible to find a place to just sit and relax before the flight. They have plenty of space and so even though it fairly crowded a seat could be found.

The 48 taps contained a reasonable selection of local beers (as well as the national brands) and I was pleased to find at least one local beer I had not tried yet.

Given the busyness of the place while I was there the service was acceptable but perfunctory and not exceptional (The girl did remember eventually that I'd also asked for a glass of water. )

I'll certainly would be fine with going back next time I have a wait in this terminal.

Terminal B...thanks to the Philly BAs for guiding me here. Lots of TVs with the sportsbar vibe. Big u-shaped bar packed with a good bit of high and low top tables. 40 or so taps with some goodies- Dock Street Rye IPA, Flying Fish Abbey Dubbel, DFH 60, Troegs Dreamweaver & Donnybrook. Also have some Anchor, Magic Hat, Long Trail, Yards and 5 Yuengling taps. Philly cheese steak with fries for $9 is not bad at all for an airport joint. Typical sports bar food menu but pretty extensive. Service quick and purty.

This review is for Terminal "D".

I had heard about this place, but I usually fly U S Airways and they are out of a different terminal. On this occasion, however, I was flying United to Madison, WI for a wedding and I had a bit of a wait for my flight. Entering, a glass wall was on the right with a shelf and several high chairs just inside the entryway. Further aft, high tables and chairs replaced the shelves until they gave way to the sea of standard tables and chairs that constituted 2/3 of the space. On the left wall, coming in, were a series of framed rock 'n roll photographs and memorabilia. Lots of monitors, an extensive back bar that seemed to be well-stocked with a lot of name liquors, and a stunning glass wall overlooking the entire terminals tarmac. Wow! About 10 feet in, stiill left, the long snaking wood bar began and incorporated an impressive eight (8) brass draft stations, each with six (6) lines.

Yep, forty-eight (48) beers at any given time. Granted, there is a hefty amount of BMC, but it's the airport, for peter's sake. What would you expect? This is almost too much to hope for.

Standouts included Troegenator; Stoudt's APA; Anchor Stream and Anchor Liberty; Long Trail; Wersteimer; Victory Hop Devil and Whirlwind Wit (seasonal); Red Hook Long Hammer IPA; Sam Adams Summer Ale (seasonal) and S.A. Lager.

Great company on this visit. Two (other) guys from LNC and a fellow from NC. If I'm in the terminal, I'm here!

first the grain of salt - this is an AIRPORT. do not expect cozy beerbar service and dont expect 2$ belgian taps. to count these things against this place is absolutely ridiculous.

there are a few of these in the phili airport - i think terminal D and F (terminal C may actually be closed). I'm sure they are all the same but you may want to ask which ones are actually open.

atmosphere - for an airport bar, umm, it was great. The terminal D location was a big wide open bar with tons of huge tv's playing baseball. Combine baseball with free wireless and 48 taps, and thats about as good as it gets in an airport.

sure, a lot of the taps are junky but certainly not all of them. Certainly you can find something you want out of Anchor Steam, Anchor Liberty, Troegginator!, Stoudts APA, Victory Whirlwind Wit, Victory HopDevil, and a number of other very worthy selections. I had a 22oz stoudts APA and it was just what i needed

food - i mean, its the freaking airport. it seems like reviewers were expecting some word class meal...Get a clue. I had a philly cheese steak and fries and ate every last bit. It wasnt great, but after an international flight, it hit the freaking spot

the server actually almost knew 1 or 2 things about beer and she was sweet as a button, and overworked

i dont even know what the prices were - i didnt pay

***Warning***

THERE ARE SEVERAL JET ROCK LOCATIONS AT PHL, IN CONCOURSES B, D AND F. My Experience tells me D is terrible and B is pretty sweet. I haven't been to F yet.

So, I checked out the Jet Rock in terminal B. Holy crap! The beer selection here put a lot of Philly bars to shame! There were 40 or so taps and a look at the menu revealed that over 1/3 were local, another 1/3 were American craft, and under 1/3 were BMC/Inbev/etc. I can see a bar just getting some "local" beers and being satisfied with the big guns like Victory, DFH, Magic Hat and Flying Fish, but to see Sly Fox, Philly Brewing and Dock Street made me realize that someone went out of their way to put this tap list together. This was a great list that could happily wait for a delayed flight while working my way through it.

This one looked like an actual bar that was smeared with TVs covering sports and CNN. It is directly across from gate B5 and manages to provide an out of the way feel to it narrow tables orienting the people parallel with the flow of traffic, so you hardly notice that you're in an airport, which was a tremendous improvement from terminal D.

Food was actually tolerable. I got silverware at this location, which is a vast improvement from the previous location. Breakfast there is fine as we tried the bagel sandwich and the breakfast wrap. The latter was onion heavy, but it did the job. Not too bad, and the price was reasonable for the airport.

Service was fine. We ordered no beer, so I have little to say.

So, with multiple locations under one listing, I'm forced to average my experiences. I hope these are fair.

-Original Review-

Why did I arrive for my flight 3 hours early? Well, at least I got the concourse with the bar. I swear this is concourse D, but BA says differently.

The bar wraps around the sandwich shack where their menus mirror the same thing on the front of the shop. At least it felt classy(er). The glass wall separating the bar from a gate did nothing to make me feel that I wasn't wasting time at an airport. Minimal effort could have been applied to make this feel like an actual bar. Oh well. Lots of seating and a big bar add a bit to make up for this.

45 taps? Get out of town! (That's an airport pun.) They looked great at a distance, but it was easily 90% crap; macros and pseudo-micros. The bottle list too was just as lame. The selection did make up for a lot. You'll find something to tolerate, but that's not a high standard.

Also, a 22 oz beer ran me $9.50. I almost choked when I saw my tab. A crappy sandwich and a beer shouldn't run you $20, airport or not.

Service? The bartender was quick, but seemed bored stiff. To say that she was clueless about beer would be an understatement. I asked her a question about the Bare Knuckle I ordered and she honestly looked scared.

The food is crappy airport food. I got a street vendor-worthy chicken cheese steak in a plastic basket with plastic silverware. Minimal.

Like I said, count this place as a blessing if you're trying to kill time.

As airport bars go, this has got to be one of the better ones I've been stuck at as far as beer selection is concerned. Some airports have little outposts of brewpubs like Gordon Biersch or the like but this is actually just a beer bar with nothing made on premises or under the brand of a brewpub chain.

Atmosphere is nothing special as it is just in the middle of the airport terminal where there are some other bars/shops, etc. Part of this is fairly new though and the newer part is pretty nice although thats probably about 100 yds past Jet Rock.

I had a Stoudts APA on draft and it was excellent and it kicked right afterwards and I then went with Yuenglings as they are not available in my area. The draft selection, while large, had a lot of run of the mill offerings but they also had some Victory and I believe they get Troeg's in on occasion. The beers tasted plenty fresh and the service was average or just a little better than average. In fairness, it was pretty busy most of the day we got stuck here.

The value is not that great as all airports kind of gouge you on everything from bottled water to sandwiches. Food here was average pub food--maybe a little better than most airport offerings.

Atm: Roomy and open, which is really nice when you're in an airport restaurant. Nice bar w/ lots of taps, and lots of tables.

Qua: CLEAN! Very clean.

Ser: Wasn't half bad. There is someone behind the bar at all times so your beer is always watched to be refilled.

Sel: About the only good beer they have (on tap) is Victory Hop Devil (breakfast in a glass). Everything else is basically macros.

Food: Average airport food (but I really didn't do much eating).

Val: Not too shabby considering I was sitting in an airport restaurant.

This is the one good thing about in being in the Philadelphia Airport.

Decent atmosphere - not too cramped - a little cutesy w/ the guitars but plenty of TVs. More importantly, there were 48 beers on tap (no bottles). Not a lot of hard to find beers, but they did have Victory Hop Devil & Stouts APA. I also noticed Murphy's, Sierra Nevada, Magic Hat, Boddingtons, a couple from Sam Adams, Bareknuckle Stout, and some more common stuff Fosters, Michelob, etc.

As for the food, it was more or less a typical bar menu - but this is Philly, and a cheesesteak w/ wiz & fried onions is a hell of a last meal for someone that probably won't see PA again until the fall. I'm sure there are far better cheesesteaks in Philly, but not in the McGuire area, and not that I recall in NEPA. (and they can't even spell cheesesteak here in OK - though they try to pass off a lot of crap as Philly this and Philly that. It's insulting, and I'm not even from Philly.)

Anyway, bottom line is the beer selection is great for an airport bar, but pretty crummy for a beer bar - so my rating reflects my confusion.

I think I paid over $8 for a Bare Knuckle Stout. Not that they had Victory Storm King or another great R.I.S., but what would that cost, $20?

I'm not so sure that airport bars should even be a part of the BeerFly as you can't get in to visit most of them without a boarding pass. However, it would be nice to know what's available (or most likely not available) before you get there. In any case, I finally did make it to the Jet Rock. Even though I've been through Philadelphia International a dozen times or so, I always left out of terminal D, and you can't get there from there. Anyway, it's a pretty typical airport bar with a glitzy, semi-retro, 50's kind of music theme. The front of the bar is designed to look like a keyboard, and there are Jet Rock guitars hanging here and there. But forget about that, what we're interested in is the beer selection. There are a lot of taps, but they're mostly imports (Carlsberg, Boddingtons, Foster's, Murphy's) and Bud brands (Bareknuckle Stout, Michelob Light, Amber Bock). Nationally available craft brews include Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Magic Hat #9, Anchor Steam, and Sam Adam's Boston Ale and whatever seasonal is in rotation. However, they do keep two local beers available, with one from Victory and one from Stoudts. Hmmmm. It's not really that much of a selection. As far as food goes it's also the standard stuff, but they do have a "to go" salad/sandwich station.

Good atmosphere for an airport bar. If I had walked into a place on the street that looked like this, I would have thought it was pretty good. Dark with lots of tap handles, lots of beer to go around, more than I've seen in any airport bar. Upon closer inspection of the menu, there was actually nothing interesting except Stoudt's APA and HopDevil. They did have SNPA and MH#9, but there was excellent representation of American macros. Where was the Yards? This is Philly for God's sake. Not too sure of beer knowledge since it was a little crowded so I didn't get to gauge the barkeep's BQ, but if the menu is any indication, not so great (misspelled "Grolsh," Blue Moon listed as a German beer). For an airport, nice to see so many tap handles, and a geek will find something, but this is no mecca.

Not a bad way to kill a delayed flight. I think I was in terminal C, but I could be mistaken. Long bar that wraps around to the back side - maybe 25-30 seats and then tables all around the perimeter. 48 beers on tap, no bottles. Some decent stuff - Hop Devil, Stoudt's APA, Anchor Steam...
The service could have been better seeing as it was pretty dead at the time. Food was so-so. Wings were good, but avoid the nachos.
There is also a pool table, which I have never seen in an airport before. I just wish I had noticed it earlier.

A four hour layover would drive anyone to a beer. Luckily in the Philly airport there's a couple good places to choose from. I dug the atmosphere of this place - it's rare, in my experience, to come across a sports bar that's got more than BMC. Several tvs visible at all angles around the bar. Service was quite busy and so took longer than I would have liked, but friendly and cordial... didn't seem to know a whole lot about the beer - at least, they weren't able to tell me anything I didn't already know. I was extremely impressed to see a 48 tap bar in an airport, but when I looked closer I saw that everything was mass produced. In fact, there were only two beers that impressed me when I looked at the list: Stoudt's APA and one called Bare Knuckle Stout. I didn't know at the time that the stout was from A-B! So, a cool list to look over, but disappointing by the time you reach the end of it.

Did not try the food, but everything looked about right. American affair, moderate price (as far as airports go). And the cocktails looked delicious.

There are actually 4 Jet Rock cafe's in the Philly Airport. Ive been to the ones in Terminal B and C. The one in Terminal B, near Gate B6, is smaller and usually more crowded. There is also one at the tail end of Terminal C that has a longer serpentine bar and was less crowded when I stopped there.

Both locations have 48 beers on tap. Mostly the standard American and Euro Macro lagers but a few good ones also show up. When I was there there was Victory Hop Devil, Magic Hat #9, and Sam Adams Octoberfest.

Food was standard slightly upscale bar fare, my hamburger was good. I have had mixed service at either location, depending on the bartender. Decor is music-themed sports bar with lots of TVs. They can get loud at times, especially the Terminal B location. Prices are reasonable given the standard airport markup.

Overall, a good place to stop for a Hop Devil if you can find a seat. Since youre flying out of Philly, theres a 95% chance your plane will be late (the other 5% arent flying US Airways).

I had a good hour or two of wasted time in PHL on Friday night since I moved up my flight at the last minute. I wandered around Terminal B for a bite of sustinance, took my eye off the pretzel cart for a second, and spied a loong array of brews at the bar located next to B6.

Atmosphere: The names Jet Rock and Hard Rock may sound similar to the reader. This becomes more so when you discuss the overall atmosphere at this joint. It was loud, with WSTW on the airwaves jammin the rock musack. About 20 teevees situated all over with various stuff on. Music memorabelia covered the available wallspace otherwise. Bar itself is a large L shape with various sizes of tables wrapping around it with a separate small dining room off the back.
Service: I was there at happy hour time on a Friday. They had three different cuties in black outfits. They were friendly and fast in that rushed "airport restaurant" way. You will not sit long without a brew or with an empty without someone asking you for another, the way it should be. The outfits were tight in ways to catch traveling businessman eyes, so to speak.
Quality/Selection: Had three pints while waiting. Beers come in small, medium, and pretty large. All appeared to be fresh and nice. Jet Rock gets the official award for "most taps in an airport." At least as far as I know, there aren't any others out there with 49 taps. There were about 7 or 8 towers. However, most of these are full of American and International Macrocrap. There are a few gems that will make this worth your wander. Stoudt's APA, Hopdevil, Beamish, and a pair of Sam's brews were the stars of my recent journey. Hopdevil allowed me several hop belches while trying to catnap on the puddlejump to Bmore.
Food: Appeared to be straight up pub grub. Decided to get a pretzel instead and save dinner for home. Maybe next time.
Price: Damn expensive. I had three pints. I'm guessing they are the medium size. Cost almost $6 each. At least I spent the money on some quality. The final bill doesn't include what you bought, so the corporate card took care of this one.

Overall: This review is of the place for what it is, an airport bar. Within the definition of an airport bar, this place is average to above average in all categories. That being said, it isn't good or great within the BA boundaries of a "beer bar." However, if I'm in PHL with time to kill, you will find me at one of the three Jet Rocks within the airport. There are definitely more than one, with one each being located in terminals B, C, and F.

When I had to travel by plane/jet twice in the past year I stopped at the Jet Rock both times. The selection is very good, if fact the most taps in any bar in city limits can be found at the Jet Rock. Why in the world is this place at the air terminal though… When looking up beer bars on the internet there is nearly no mention of the Jet Rock. I’m glad someone added this to the system….now people flying out of Philly can enjoy a couple nice brews and fall asleep on the ride back to who-knows-where, albeit at a costly 15$ for two 16-20oz’ers. I’ll be stopping by soon for at least one brew when I head down to the Bahamas.

having already been impressed with philly as a beer city i was a bit sad to get to the airport, airport bars being what they are. well, we (bossman bryce and me) got to the end of the terminal and there was a bar so we went in. and there were taps. and there were taps. and there were taps. six towers with 8 taps on each. no. there wasn't a bud tower and a miller tower and a coors tower. there was sam adams and yards and stoudts and victory and dogfish head and so on. we had had a few days of beer so we decided on the "small" beer. twenty (20) ounces. the large looked to be about a quart.

that's the good news. the bad is that it is still an airport bar. the "small" was $7.50. the food looked to be mediocre although i did not partake. and the atmosphere? it was an airport bar with some very impressive towers. beer towers that is. the best airport bar i've been to but i don't fly that much.
