Consumed at a La Carreta restaurant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Now brewed by Lazy Magnolia Brewing Company, Kiln, Mississippi rather than Heiner Brau, Covington, Louisiana. Therefore, current beer may differ from the version previously reviewed.

Served cold. Poured an adequate head. Taste was pleasant but not impressive. Smell and mouthfeel were not distinguished. This is an average American type beer with nothing really to recommend it. I don't think it really compliments Mexican food. However, it is a beer I would drink if the price was right. It would probably go well with chittlins and pickled pigs' feet.

Brewed specifically for "La Carreta" restaurants in Louisiana by Heiner Brau. Pours a perfectly clear gold with a tiny white head that disappears to leave a slight trace of foam on the glass. Smells of sweet, grainy malt with little else going on. Sweet, honey-like malt hits again on the palate; finishes with some hop bitterness. As simple and cheap as this offering is, it's a pretty decent lager that's a great alternative to everything else on the stereotypically Mexican menu.
