Nitro-can serving.
It looks great - all nitro beers do. And surprisingly, the aroma doesn't suffer. Sure, it's a bit timid, but it's also very nuanced - notes of caramel, pumpernickel bread, vanilla cream, and even stone fruit twinges appear. The flavor profile seems to be weaker than what the nose suggested, sadly. Initial notes of toffee, caramel, and bread dominate, allowing touches of cream to show up near the back end. It suffers from the same foibles of many ESBs - the toffee qualities are too overpowering and detrimental to the general balance. Nitro actually aids the mouthfeel: it may be flat and a touch watery, but it's also dry enough to quell some of the overpowering burnt bread notes. Still, this one is pretty ho-hum in general. I don't need to have it again.
3.22/5: Not bad, but not my fave

This is , hands down, a fabulous beer for anyone who loves cream ales and ESB's. We bought the last four cans of Nitro at State Line today, who said it is "unavailable" any more. Yikes, I hope it will be coming back soon! Beautiful dark golden brown with LOTS of creamy, creamy head and a unique, pronounced sweet and malty aroma. Why don't more folks write this up? Why is this an unknown beer?

This pours a deep rust color with plenty of sediment. The niro really helps the head at least be respectable. Nose features broad caramel malt and a touch of yeast. This is maltier than I expect for a cream ale, which at least makes it different. The texture is approprioately silky smooth and rich with proteins. Some hop flavor in the latter stage of the sip. A little darker and more assertive than typical of the style but interesting.

Had on nitro at the pub. A little flat on flavor and a touch bitter in finish. Still solid but I've had better cream ales.

Had on nitro at Ocean Odyssey in their 25oz mug. Lovely slow cascade thanks to nitro, but beautiful Amber with bright garnet highlights to light...thanks to brewer. Decent nose with some hints of light roasted malt and biscuit. Taste really comes out as it warms to Brit pub style pour. Have read other reviews and understand...but I really thought this was like the ESB's I'd had at Fullers and Ram.
Overall, I really think they hit the mark.

It was good, but not the best. Smooth.

Draft, at the Pratt Street Ale House, Baltimore poured into a goblet
Appearance: Pours a beautiful, golden amber color with reddish highlights and a full finger of creamy white-colored head that lasted forever and completely covered the top of the beer.
Aroma: Not much in the aroma at all, but I do get faint notes of toasted malt and caramel, but only faint ones at that, and nothing else.
Taste: What the beer lacks in aroma, it more than makes up for in flavor. There’s lots of toasted malt up front, imparting notes of biscuits, oyster crackers and sourdough bread, followed by some honey, brown sugar and caramel-like sweetness, as well as some pronounced flavors of black pepper, a touch of coriander, and finally, some subtle, grassy, piney hops. Delicious!
Mouthfeel: Slightly chewy and extremely smooth and creamy. With an ABV of 6.0%, there is no alcohol on the palate.
Overall: This is such an excellent, excellent beer! Fans of Boddingtons, Old Speckled Hen and English bitters and milds will love this beer!
