From 06/09/12 notes. Had this on tap at Meridian Pint at their "Drink Local" event. Was probably my favorite beer there. The base beer is 9% ABV; not sure about the BA version.

a - Pours a very dark brown color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, burnt malts, light sweet dark fruits. Nice bourbon and vanilla up front; an awesome nose.

t - Tastes of bourbon, oak, roasted malts, fruity malts, toasted malts, burnt malts, light vanilla. Bourbon and vanilla was nice but not as strong as the nose.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not hot, pretty easy to drink.

o - Overall a really nice barrel aged brown ale. The bourbon and vanilla are awesome in the nose, and it wasn't hot at all. Would love to have it again.

Single finger head with some lace and nice retention. Whiskey, oak, brown sugar and toffee with a hint of milk chocolate on the nose. More of the same on the palate following nicely. The whiskey is perfectly applied. The base brown isn't lost. This one stays smooth. Medium to full body and moderate carbonation. Very well balanced especially for the ABV and barreled style.
