Dark brown with an amber tinge when held to the light. Little visible carbonation, and a half finger of off white head.

Smells of rum, toffee, dark chocolate, raisins and coffee.

The taste is very rum forward with a big boozy quality, raisins, coffee, black liquorice and dark chocolate.

Medium to thick body with moderate carbonation. Actually gives the illusion of having more alcohol than it does.

Got this in a seasonal pack from this brewery, purchased at Brou Ha Ha in Gatineau, Quebec. Seriously good brew.

From a 341ml bottle, dated 2017-10-13. Labeled as 'AphroRhum' with a picture of a pirate on the label but, as best I can tell, it's the same beer so I won't add another one to the site. Served in a tulip, maybe a little on the cool side of optimum.

Pours a rich, warm mahogany, opaque in the glass with cherry highlights and a fat finger-and-a-half of pouffy, dark tan fluff. The head lasts for several minutes before subsiding to a misty cap and a semi-solid sheet of lacing. (4.25)

The smell is nickel-iron metallic (because it's too cold), dusty cocoa and sugary booze. Otherwise, not much going on nose-wise. (Doesn't change much as it warms). (3.5)

Not unexpectedly it tastes something like chocolate birthday cake soaked with rum. The dominant taste is the cocoa, Hersheys milk chocolate and cacao nibs, with the smooth and dreamy vanilla only coming in at the middle and end but with the rum character infusing the entire experience from start to finish. As it warms, I'm getting a little fig, demerara sugar and leather. (4.25)

Feel is smooth, creamy and rich, medium-plus bodied, moderate but adequate carbonation. (4.0)

Overall, delicious. Like Aphrodisiaque with the richness and booziness cranked up two notches and the complexity dialed back half a notch. Or something like that. Anyway, yum, right? (4.25)

2014 vintage. Opened march 2017. No carbonation and no head at all from this bottle. Still have another one from the same batch, will update review if it's any different.

A huge thank you to Montrealbcr82 for this big want!! 2014 bottle.

Appearance. Pours pretty darn black, topped with almost a finger of dark khaki head.

Smell. Nice dark rum and molasses, some dark roasted malts and coffee with a very slight smokiness, a little vanilla too in kind of an ice cream way if that makes any sense and a bit of fresh wood. Nice stuff.

Taste. Sweet dark chocolate, some boozy rum and fresh bitter wood, dry roasty malts and powdery cocoa in the finish, lightly astringent.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body, medium-low carbonation.

Overall. Nice stuff, quite dry and I have to say I prefer rum barrels to bourbon. Yep, put that in your pipe and smoke it! Thanks again Tyler!!!
