As we like to try new varieties of coffee in Péché Mortel, each year we choose one or two new coffees with the help of our friends at Café St-Henri, a very small roaster in Montreal. This year, the new variety gives a unique flavor to Péché Mortel. We chose a coffee from Kenya named M’Beguka. The light roast enchances the coffee flavor and brings fruity cassis and rhubarb flavors.

Lovely, albeit a touch watery but I will chalk that up to the nitro.
The taste was so good that perhaps I liked it more that the original. Certainly the coffee is more predominant, although the original has a better balance.
Dieu du Ciel! rocks.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours black in color with a hint of light creeping around the edges, one-finger creamy khaki colored head
S- the coffee aroma is a bit lighter than the original version, allowing it to open up to notes of blueberry cream, licorice, cocoa powder, vanilla & caramel. The roast and char notes seem lighter than the original as well
T- earthy and fruity coffee notes up front mix with mocha & chocolate notes, followed by caramel, licorice and charred malt. The finish brings out fruity notes of blueberry, as well as creamy vanilla and coffee
M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that turns into a silky finish
O- a softer version of Peche, in terms of the coffee notes, but that allows plenty of coffee undertones to poke through, very good

Thanks to Jerk_Store for the bottle!
Poured pitch black with a creamy tan head with nice retention and lacing. The nose and taste speak of milk chocolate and café crème as well as vanilla, dark/rich roasted malt. This is a rich, silky beverage with a wonderful coffee note, balanced perfectly. It has been a while since I have had the original, but this is seems to be a great version of the classic.

On tap at Thin Man Brewery in Buffalo, NY.
This one pours a very dark back, silky and oily looking, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like coffee- probably the same amount of coffee as in the regular version, but a little different in character. This is fruitier, and a bit more roasty smelling, and less chocolatey. There's also roasted malt, and maybe a bit of creamy vanilla.
I honestly get a tiny bit of bourbon on the taste, that must just be the combination of flavors here playing tricks on me. The coffee is simultaneously more bitter, and slightly more fruity, which plays well with the roasted flavors of the base stout here. This isn't necessarily better than Peche Mortel, but it's certainly interesting to try for sure.
This is medium bodied, and quite creamy, with a good level of carbonation for the style.
This was really cool to try- Peche Mortel has always been a favorite of mine, and it's fun to try some variants.
