Very Good
Saison Du ParcSaison Du Parc
Notes: This straw coloured Saison is inspired by the Belgian tradition. Slightly veiled, it is dry with grainy aromas. The chosen hops straddle the line between the traditional and the new world and bring a touch of citrus and passion fruit, all the while letting the aromatic yeast shine through.

Cloudy with lots of fine carbonation bubbles. I'd describe the colour as wheat straw that has been rained on several times ( you'd have to be a former grain buyer or wheat grower to understand).

Definite farm house ale aroma..yeasty, grassy, slightly citric.

Once the carbonation settles down it's actually close to as advertised. Those classic Saisson notes are there at the beginning before they get blown away by the aforementioned ( on the label ) hops.

Feel is light and crisp

Thinking this would be a killer on a hot humid day.

Bottle: Poured a super pale yellow color ale with a nice large pure white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light rat notes with floral hay notes is pretty refreshing. Taste is a nice mix of tart notes with some floral hay notes and light citrusy notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Very refreshing with light tart notes.

Awesome low alcohol beer... should've called it a Grisette and everyone would be all over it. Pleasant yeast character, nice hopping, restrained bitterness.

341ml bottle - another hoppy Saison. Well, like I always say (as of now), if it's gotta be a Saison, it might as well be hoppy.

This beer pours a hazy, pale golden straw colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy off-white head, which leaves some random broadly splattered sudsy lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of musty and grainy wheat malt, some mostly lemony citrus rind notes, a laid-back earthy and mildly funky yeastiness, subtle black pepper spice, and more understated grassy, leafy, and dead floral green hop bitters. The taste is semi-sweet, grainy and bready wheat malt, a touch of weird grapey sugar, some hard water flintiness, aerosol black peppercorn, still edgy yeasty esters, and more acrid leafy, weedy, and soapy floral verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is quite active in its palate-pinging frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and more or less smooth, the hops not exactly helping, but not really causing a fuss by the same token. It finishes trending dry, the lingering yeast and hoppy essences not to be trifled with.

Overall, yeah, this is a Saison, and it is indeed hoppy, but not in a way that makes me forget the former, if that makes any sense. Refreshing, to a certain degree, but, once again, not the best use of the glorious thing we know as hops, in my obviously biased opinion.

341ml bottle poured into tulip 11/6/17

A milky pale yellow, lots of tiny little bubbles manage a large three finger soapy head that's about as loose as they come strangely leaving zero lace

S grassy, floral, and spicy hops, mineral water, the yeast has a mild gym sock thing going on, some citrus and cereal

T lemon peel, peppery, wet stone, not far from the smell

M light as can be, bubbles soften it up even more, a little gritty, weedy rind finish

O not all that hoppy as advertised but still enough going on to please in a lightweight

Not DDC's best but pretty good compared to the average, might be a tough sell on the same shelf as their other seasonal 4 packs with twice the strength and quality.....

Really light straw in color, pretty cloudy with a decent white head.

Smell of yeasts, hops and cereals. Nothing really impressive in the nose.

In the mouth it's mostly cereals, with lots of hops. I would expect a more "yeasty" flavor if you will. Not bad actually but not what I expected. Medium bitterness and really dry.

Light scent, green grape, grass and light fruits, a bit tropical. Flavour is fairly mild, with a bitter finish. Light fruits, green grape, wheat. The bitterness in the finish is too pronounced, particularly for such a light beer. Refreshing, particularly on a hot day like this. Not bad, but nothing exciting and the bitterness is too strong.

Appearance - Pours a pale pear with four fingers of frothy white head.

Smell - yeast, clove, spicy hops, coriander, and citrus.

Taste - Yeast and clove upfront followed by the bitter spicy hops. The citrus finishes the brew off. There is pleasant effervescence to this beer.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation. Finishes with a pleasant lingering bitterness.

Overall - A "hoppy saison" that has the hops to a nice tee. I would've liked if the traditional saison elements were more evident in this one.

A new seasonal from DDC billed as a session saison. Seems kind of redundant, but whatever. It pours a slightly hazy anemic straw color with a big, white, airy, soap-like head. The aroma is of hay, some floral/soapy hop aroma. The flavor follows suit, tasting like what I imagine hop soap to taste like; light citrus bitterness, some grass and a soapy bitter twang with every drink. It is thin, soda-pop bubbly with a light body and quick dry finish. It is drinkable, but only cause it is pretty watery.

As far as saisons go, this is not a very good one. However, as far as "session" beers go, this is a fairly good one. There is a decent amount of hop flavor and a touch of a yeast profile (but not much). I probably won't buy it again, but it wasn't terrible.
