Style: Berliner Weissbier

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.90%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
German inspired sour wheat beer. The obvious and domineering acidity of this beer is obtained by letting the unboiled wort go sour for several days. The Solstice d’Été is made complete by the addition, during the fermentation process, of a phenomenal quantity of whole fruit (raspberries or mangos or cherries) which compensate for the sourness of the beer. The result is a very refreshing beer where both acidity and fruity flavours dominate wholeheartedly.

On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. Glowing neon pink color. Aroma has raspberry yogurt with fruit pits, really fruity and lactic. Taste is tart, astringent, fruity, dry, refreshing, really well balanced.

Bottle courtesy of Dr. White...thanks.

Deep pink/purple in color with a pink head. Bubbles linger for a while then dissipate. Quite clear.

Some raspberries in the nose, but also an almost solventy tartness. Like there is a splash of gasoline in here.

Tart and acidic with some raspberry up front, refreshing, but washes away into almost nothing midmouth and beyond. There also is an earthy quality to the initial acid/funk character. A bit of tartness in the finish.

Light body and moderately high carbonation.

Definitely softer than many Berliner Weiss beers, but overall a little boring to my palate. Probably would be good with food, as really scrubs the palate nicely.

Pours a beautiful rugby red color with an inch of reddish white head. Tons of raspberries; lightly tart, fruity malts, sticky sweet dark fruits. Medium to light body.

Overall I loved it; great day and summer beer.

Pours a hot pink colour with a lovely pink collar.
Raspberries!!!!
Raspberries over a wheat beer base.
Lovely champagne like bubbles. Thirst quenching with a true raspberry flavor. It is quite sour. You could add a teaspoon of maple syrup....

Bottled 2016-06-16; Sampled 2017-03-20 (9 months old)

A: Pours a rich ruby red color with a fingers worth of head that fades down to nothing

S: Lots of raspberries and tart acidity up front along with some wheat and general fruitiness. Very raspberry-focused

T: Starts off with the raspberries and lots of tart acidity and goes into some lighter wheat notes and more general sour notes. Finishes with lingering raspberry

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A very good raspberry berliner with a big focus on the raspberries and the tart/sour aspects. Definitely worth checking out

a new standard for raspberry sours, straight up, this is one of the best of those i have ever had, and an unexpected gem from one of my favorite breweries anywhere. so affordable for how good it is too, which is way cool. the beer is a concentrated beet red, pure ruby, really intense, clear though, save for some fishfoody yeasty or fruity bits floating about, but it never gets hazy, even in the would be dregs. totally beautiful, like stained glass in the light. aroma of raspberry jam, fresh and sweet, super concentrated and off the vine, but also tangy, true to the fruit. not unique in itself, but unique in it purity and its intensity, its amazing. in the nose anyway, its almost entirely grain free, but the sourness is there from a natural, quick but patient front end deal, not overly acidic, but pungent still. mouthwatering. more raspberry here than i can ever recall in any beer. atrial rubicite is top without a doubt, but this is literally right there, i swear. such an unassuming package, pretty art, but a single bottle no frills fair price, uncommon. red wine acidity here, and lots of body, raspberry all over my teeth, clean though in the end somehow, clean for being so bold, dramatic, and although oddly predictable and not made to be complex or unapproachable, still unique and memorable not just for its quality, but for its perfect representation of this fruit in an ale. loved it, and love du ciel! do not miss this one.
