BEER INFO

Style: Berliner Weissbier

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.90%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
German inspired sour wheat beer. The obvious and domineering acidity of this beer is obtained by letting the unboiled wort go sour for several days. The Solstice d’Été is made complete by the addition, during the fermentation process, of a phenomenal quantity of whole fruit (raspberries or mangos or cherries) which compensate for the sourness of the beer. The result is a very refreshing beer where both acidity and fruity flavours dominate wholeheartedly.

12 fl oz bottle sealed with black twist off cap that has a white fairy on it...

bottled on date 06/16/2016.

poured into HF wine stem.

Appearance: translucent medium red body with thick cap of bone white head that quickly drops down to no head. Lots of clear globs of junk that quickly fall to the bottom of the glass. This is slightly gross; they look like snot globs... If the beer did not have the snot globs, I would have rated the appearance around a 4.25.

Smell: Tons of raspberry character that smells juicy and jammy. This is extremely fruit forward. Hint of jolly ranchers. Hint of cinnamon spice as well.

Taste: Mild tartness; 3/10. Tons of juicy raspberries that taste just like raspberry flesh / skins.

Mouthfeel: light bodied beer with low yet adequate carbonation levels. This beer is more juicy than it is dry. Very drinkable.

Overall: I have been wanting to try this beer for a long time. Finally found it on the shelf last week in St Louis. This is a pretty tasty beer. I would consider this to be more of a fruit beer than a berliner weissbier.

Poured from the 11.5 oz bottle into a teku glass.
Pours incredibly beautiful bright glowing red. Lots of particulates in here though.
Aromas are tons of fruit and mellow sourness.
Flavor is wonderful. Not overly sour, allowing raspberries to really shine here.
Mouthfeel was very good. Clean.
Overall, a wonderful and delicious beer. Really showcased the raspberries perfectly.
