look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3 | overall: 4

from notes taken on vacation in montreal 5.16.2010.

listed on their website as being first brewed in the brewpub december of 2002, so i'm guessing it's either year round or seasonal availability.

served in an imperial pint glass.

color is a standard reddish copper with a thin cap of tan head that lasts to the end of the glass. leaves thick swaths of lace behind too.

smell is nutty and grainy with a light herbal hop presence.

taste is nutty, toasty, carmelly and bready with some slight bitterness in the finish. i usually like malt heavy beers, but i'd prefer just a bit more hops to help balance this out.

mouthfeel is thin with medium carbonation.

this is definitely a session beer. of the four beers i had at the brewpub, this was the least exciting. seems to fit the style well though.
