On tap at Swillburger/The Playhouse in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a slightly hazed orange-ish color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.

Smells like lots of tropical fruits, peaches in syrup, apricot, a little clove, and candy sugar.

This is a hoppy tripel- but the Citra hops provide more of an intense fruitiness to complement the usual fruitiness associated with tripels. There's basically no hop bitterness, with syrupy stone fruit, orange peel, clove, and simple syrup.

This is medium bodied, a tiny bit syrupy, with a lower level of carbonation.

This is definitely interesting, but it's a tiny bit too syrupy for me.

Pours a nice hazy yellow colour with medium head and adequate lacing. Smell is of pineapple and white grapes. Taste follows the smell. Reminds me exactly of a Duvel. Overall, a very drinkable beer at 10.2 ABV.

341ml bottle.

Opaque gold with a moderate, quickly dissipating head. Slight funk, broad spectrum of fruit aromas. Spicy on the tongue. Bitter hops. mild tropical fruit. Warming booziness. Medium bodied. Lovely.

Cloudy gold color with storming multi-speed and layered activity. Thick frothy and rocky beige 3-4 finger island head, lasting around 15 minutes, with thick legs. Flavors of pineapple, mango, lemon, clove, sweet grains, honey, coriander, peppercorn, floral and herbal spices. Juicy tropical fruits sweetness with delicate grassy bitterness. Slick oily full body with prickly and zesty carbonation. Strong finish, a little dry yet the alcohol is well hidden, lingering orange and citrus hops, some grass and pine, with thick sweet malts and a floral bouquet. Delicious flavors, bold and filling, yet quite fresh. Good balance and intensity, complex, although feels more like a Belgian IPA than actual Tripel. Overall excellent quality craft.

From a 341ml bottle, dated 2016-03-07. Served in a Dieu du Ciel! tulip.

Pours an unfiltered glowing gold colour with a pillowy two-finger head. Retention is good and leaves wads of thick, sticky lacing.

Smells like an entire boulangerie full of rising baguettes, chamomile, sweet herbs and apple blossoms.

Tastes mildly sweet with some biting tartness along with it. Sourdough bread and white grapes, kiwi, grapefruit pith, coriander and a clean earthiness. Finishes clean with some boozy warmth in the gullet.

Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied and dry with en tabernak of superfine carbonation.

Overall, other than the label itself, there is nothing about this beer that would alert you that it is over 10% abv until you actually try to get up off of the couch to rinse out your glass. The citra bitterness is an interesting and effective foil to what might otherwise have been too sweet for my tastes. Very nice tripel!

Purchased at Dapanneur AS in Montreal for $3.50 for a 341ml bottle. Served at 6deg C in a draught glass.

A- Opens well and pours a 1/2" high white head that films out within a minute or so. Medium gold colour and unfiltered.

S- Nice yeast. Has that familiar Tripel scent

T- Boozy. Really hot. Touch bitter. Can't get over the heat. It just overpowers. Has some flowery aftertaste

M- Dry. Very dry.

O- Not the best beer. This one was super hot. It just killed the flavor badly. Will not buy again.

Food Pairing

This hot brew went well with....... Butter chicken! The buttery texture with heavy spice goes well together.

Enjoy
