A very curious beer A beer with a tour, the citric has a good presence at the end of the drink. A good product, with a curious touch that makes it special. That yes, as a beer, apart from the citrus flavor, it's fine but it has not motivated me much.

As the trend in hoppy beer is fruitier and fruitier, its no surprise that breweries are accenting the implied citrus impressions with actual citrus additions. Dieu Du Ciel's Disco Soleil brightens its taste with kumquat for a juicy and vibrant session.
As it would have it, a bright orange and gold austere gleams through its unadulterated haze. With the nose grazing the rim, the senses are taken back by the plethora of ripe citrus and floral orange blossom. Tangerine and nectarine seem tree-ripe as the first sip hits the palate like sweet and fruity sherbet.
After the taste settles, the middle palate unfolds with a mild honey, short caramel and sugary fructose taste to provide the underpinnings for a fast development of hops. What's juicy, vibrant and ripe quickly turns to dried citrus peel, grassy herbs and lemon verbena, and then a partly-spicy, partly-resinous bitterness in a peculiar fresh shaven pine fashion.
With its density of fruit and creamy malts, the beer's upstart is medium-bodied. Though it develops quickly into a creamy-dry finish without fatigue or weight, the ale retains its mild fruity sugars and starchy substrate until late- allowing for the taste of cream sickle to permeate in finish and aftertaste.

Based off almost week old memories.
A: A pale orangish color in my snifter. Nice lacing and retention.
S: Citrus, hops, just a touch of pale malt.
T: I honestly can't say that I have ever had a kumquat or even knew that this beer had it in it I just have a blind instinct to instantly get any DDC product when it comes. I do however get a very nice tropical hop profile on the palate. I would imagine citra. very citrusy. As it warms everything gets better. Hops show themselves a bit more and a new malt profile that was previously taking a back seat pokes its head. Perhaps a touch biscuity.
M: Moderate body. Dry with appropriate carbonation.
O: An amazing beer from DDC once again. Similar to Mortalite but a bit different. Wish I had tried a Kumquat so I could comment on that aspect but none the less a stellar IPA.

The nose has some promise that just falls flat (literally and figuratively), and with that, this is getting dangerously close to mass produced lager territory. It's almost all just malt, with even a hint of corn syrup, of which I am sure there isn't any within. But the point is that this is a large disappointment and in a cheap, sloppy way. The best thing here is the label.

This one pours a hazed bronze yellow, with a half inch head, and a bit of lacing.
Smells really strongly of fresh and authentic kumquat, with some grapefruit, caramel malt, and a bit of line.
This is definitely a solid fruit beer- lots of great and authentic kumquat character. However, it doesn't feel a whole lot like an IPA. The fruit additions overwhelm the hop character. There's some bready malt, hints of caramel. The hop character that is there is nice, good grapefruit, with minimal bitterness.
This has a very creamy mouthfeel, with s good level of carbonation.
This doesn't succeed in the listed style, but it's still a tasty beer.

Pours a glowing orange that is fairly cloudy with a finger and a half cap of white head that scummily settles to a quarter inch film. Okay retention; some sticky lacing. (3.75)

Sweet and pithy. Citrus rind, resinous tinge of funk, pine, caramel. (4)
T:
Juicy and vaguely herbal. Grapefruit, dirt, citrus zest, underlying caramel, with resinous stickiness and a lingering kumquat aroma that works its way up your nose. (4)
M:
Creamy velvet with perfect level of soft carbonation and a medium body with a quick finish. (4.25)
O:
Very good beer.
This is a decent beer and (in my mind) very good for being an IPA with fruit. The kumquat flavor blends with and is generally complimentary to the hop profile of the beer as a whole.
It pours all right and has a nice aroma with lots of fruit and sweetness. It features a lot of juicy flavors with some bitterness underneath to bring it down. The palate is pleasantly soft and creamy. Overall this is a good beer. As an IPA I don't think it is absolutely outstanding, but just looking at it generally it is a solid hoppy beer. It would be very good for people who want to try IPAs but who think they are too bitter. Especially if they are fans of kumquats. The only time I ever had them they tasted like this juicy and sweet in the center with a bitter oily skin that kept it from being too sweet.
Will have again; worth a try. (3.75)
