This beer was created on February 20th, 2000. It is composed of six varieties of cereals containing a portion of rye, a variety of hop and herbs & spices. Fresh mint leaves are always used. This out of the box beer offers a delightful blend of spices and malts. An enchanting discovery that suits its name.

Beautiful cloudy cookie amber. Generous off-white head leaves superb lacing traces with every sip. Diplomatic if light biscuity maltiness coats the nostrils with a blast of peppery, herbal mint leaves. Leaves a long minty and bready aftertaste with a touch of orangey hops. Well developped balance, totally masked alcohol. Dangerously drinkable. Firm, almost crisp belgian carbonation, medium bodied, smooth palate. Excellent.

On tap at the brewery, unusual stuff. Conifeurs and mint. Strange vaporub aroma. Bitter with some sweetness to get it down.I like rye but junniper berries are not something I seek. Medicinal and mouthwash, but still interesting. Amber colour, with more head this would be attractive.

Appearance: Cherrywood colored and opaque, it had a silken, sticky head.

Smell: Very interesting aroma. Minty, as the name suggests, but also a very herbal rosemary, some pine needles, and also that slimey gum pine trees develop, it's the stuff they use to make spruce Beer.

Taste: The board said that this Beer was also made with juniper berries and rye, which came out in the body with a creamy, refreshing feel. Here again, strange, the carbonation feels light, but the spices still give it a tangyness, probably from the mint. The aftertaste is bitter, but not in a hoppy kind of way, it almost feels like the taste you get grom a breath mint. Not everyone might enjoy this, but I did. Kudos to the brewer for trying something a little off the wall.

Appearance- A copper color slight orange hue. Full off white head and lace.

Smell- Not bad but odd and probably not what most of us are used to. Very herbal and natural like.

Taste- A little bread like definitely very herbal and sweet a good dessert beer.

Mouthfeel- Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Drinkability- Not exactly my type beer but it should be respected.

A-Copper with a thin tan head that left decent lace.

S-Light herbalness, minty with hints of mysterious spices. Almost menthol like at times. Very interesting.

T-Sharpp herbal a DIPA....but without hops! Very astringent in the finish.

M-Medium-light body and a very drying quality.

D-Interesting with good flavour. A most unusual beer and much respect for doing something different and having it come out this good. Only problem for me is that it finsihes too dry...therefore prohibiting me to drink in mass quntities.

This is a beer worth travelling for. When I first read the descirption--mint and juniper berries--I was skeptical. As a homebrewer I've had many experimental brews go down the sink, but this was one of the most eye opening beers I've had in a long time. The mint dominates the aroma and the juniper dominates the flavor profile but this beer has just enough hop and malt structure to balance the entire thing. It was oddly reminiscent of a well balanced American Style double IPA in that the spices (hops are a spice) were up front and aggressive, but never overran the entire experience. We drove out from Montreal for my birthday just to try this quaint little place and this beer absolutely made the trip worth the while. One of the top five beers I've had in the last year.
