I'll begin by saying that I've never come across a pils that's blown me away, or, more accurately, I had never come across a pils that blew me away until Cerna Hora. The beer turns up with a radiant golden body and a frothy, sticky white head. Nice, clean floral aroma with saaz spiciness. The taste is crazy good, and if I hadn' have known better I would have said it was on cask, as it had that nice character a cask can imbue. More malt aspect than I've come across in a pils, and the better for it. The floral hopping of the hops produces a well-balanced bitterness. Crikey, this is a good beer. Everything is well-balanced and this would be a perfect session brew. One of the best beers I had in montreal.

One of the best pilseners I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. This beer may even be better than Prima Pils! It was presented to me with a lovely golden colour and a nice, compact, white head. The aromas were all of fresh hops and malts and the taste was more of the same. A very easy-drinking, old-school, Czech-style pilsener here folks. This almost reminded me of La Bolduc by Unibroue...but it was slightly better (probably because it was much fresher) The mouthfeel is light and crisp as well as refreshing and the drinkability was tops as well.

An unusual offering: a true to style version of a Czech Pilsner, flavor and all. All about the Saaz hop, this beer pays homage to the style. The Saaz aroma is unmistakable and the beer offers a substantial body to back up its quality flavor.

Read some beerfly reviews which suggested this so I hope I'm not biased in any way.

A. Deep, almost copper gold with a white head that lasts long enough. Lots of goopy lacing.

S. Smells good. Hoppy. Fresh honey. As it warms up the honey becomes very strong. Smells great but its not my favorite smell for a pilsner.

T. Very good. There's nothing really "impressive" about the taste but it tastes right. Nothing to offend here. Honey and noble hops are still here but with a little sour note. Slight woodiness. Fresh Berry notes rise with the temperature. Smells like both fresh berry juice and candy. Very slight skunkiness which i kind of enjoy.

M. Medium, edging on high carbonation. Full feel. Moderately dry but very astringent.

D. Super. An all nighter.
I'd just finish up my night with a little something tougher

Good beer. I recommend it.

Enjoyed with both their accra plate and gravlax plate

A Pilsner Urquell clone - but better! Much smoother than PU with good malt body and noble hop character and aroma. Very clean, well-balanced and drinkable beer. Flavor improved after the beer warmed up.

Of the 5 Brewpubs I visited - this one had the best beers overall.

Had this on tap at the brewpub yesterday.

Appearance: An orange body with a creamy white head that drapes the glass all the way down. As the glass empties, love the layers of lacing all the way down.

Smell: Aroma of floral hops, crisp.

Taste: A nice spicy bitterness. The Saaz hops really shine here. Grassy a bit, some orange and a bit of sulfur.

Mouthfeel: Crisp carbonation, pleasing bitterness, creamy.

Overall: A very pleasing and satisfying beer. Worth the trip here.

My first beer ever at this pub and I loved the Pilsner, funny story is that all my friends took something else first, they all tasted my Pilsner and they all ended up drinking pilsner for the rest of the night. What can I say, it tastes like a true pilsner should be. The aromas are typical of a good pilsner, the taste is bitter, not too muc. Not too strong, just perfect for a lager, I would drink it everyday.

The beer comes in a rich golden color, slightly hazy from chill.

The aroma offers biscuity malt sweet, grassy floral grains, slight butter. A touch fruity.

The flavor has grassy hops, grains, slightly bready, longing zesty bitterness. Lingering bitterness. Medium plus mouthfeel. Creamy soft mouthfeel.

A surprisingly well done traditional pilsner from Montreal.

Looks light copper in the glass with a decent-sized white head that eventually drops to a film with good pick up. Concentric rings of lacing, very pretty. In general this beer has a grassy European hop presence. The aroma is mainly this with some soapiness. The flavor is a tiny bit biting, but aside from that is easy-drinking, enjoyable and clean. The finish is the same, in fact the whole beer should get extra points just for being really true to what a lager should be. Tasty, simple, together, clean, drinkable. Great beer for a hot day or to have two or three of. Would have again.

A: Absolutely beautiful golden color with a finger of thick looking head, served in a pint. Leaves nice lacing throughout the session.

S: Floral hops, fairly clean smelling. A bit of grain and I also picked up on a very faint fruity character.

T: Starts off a bit bitter from the hops but it's hastily replaced with a grainy flavor. Ends with a lingering bitterness that just won't fade away.

M: Med-Light body with good carbonation that tingles on the tongue. A bit creamy and leaves a slight drying effect.

D: Goes down really easily, feels like on a weekend afternoon on the patio at l'Amère à boire. I could of had a few of these if their hadn't been others that I did want to try.

Overall, a superior pils. Recommended if you stop at this brewpub.

A-Golden yellow with a bright white head that left generous lace.

S-Light ,alts and Saaz's ALL about the Saaz!

T-Malty with just enough hop bite to keep things in Czech! Even an ale freak like me appreciated this one!

M-Medium-light body with the expected crsipness one looks for in a pils.

D-Very well done and true to style. Would not be hard to reach for a few of these on a hot summer day in the city.

Appearance: Golden and opaque, with a frothy, clingy head. It's a lager, what else would you expect?

Smell: Like a flour mill on a grassy meadow, a bag of grain spinkled with noble hops.

Taste: Much more malt than your average lager, the carbonation was just smooth enough to hit it off for me, especially considering the fact that it was scorching hot outside. Like a beefed up Pilsener Urquell. Even ale zealots will appreciate this one.

On tap at L'amerie a boire, Montreal.

Poured a hazy medium straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a mixture of citrus and noble hops with doughy malts.

The taste consisted of a doughy malt and a lively hop. There was some citrus detected but for the most part the earthy, dry noble hops dominated.

The mouthfeel was average for the style.

Overall an easy drinking pils.

Light amber, clear, with a generous white head. Nice looking pint. Lots of floral/spicy saaz hops come through in the aroma, along with a bit of malt and a very clean yeast profile. Moderate bitterness with some malt backbone and light spiciness. Short finish with hops appearing again through to the end. The carbonation was a little on the low side, which made the body seem heavier than expected. It also ended up smoother with less crisp carbonation character than commonly seen in the style. Still good though. Slight dryness as well. I'd definitely think of using this as a session if I lived in the area.

Pint at L'Amere a Boire on the Thursday night of Mondial week. Arrives a nice robust golden, a shade darker than the standard. Finger of head.

Nose is biscuity malt, hint of graininess, light grassy hopping, perhaps a dash of lemon.

A really round body for a pils, the malt really shines and gives it a much more robust feel. Clean, noble hopping, grassy with a hint of lemon. Would have loved a heavier hand on this area, doesn't stand up to even some local favorites such as King. Still, really nice quaff and perfect on this warm evening. Would love to go back and revisit.

The beer is clear deep brass colored, a white high head with loads of lacing.

Smelling of fresh fruits, pears, apples and grass.

Upfront a white bread sweetness, red apples and fresh cut grass.

Medium carbonation, medium sized bubbles, an almost coarse texture but very refreshing, a dry finish.

Well balanced, fresh and refreshing. A good Canadian Czech!

The head is off white and foamy. Settles slowly but finishes as a ring of bubbles. Ring lace and then it becomes spotty.

Mild aroma but it is well balanced. A bit of raw grain to the nose.

Very full bodied for the style. Good caramel start but the tale of this beer is the strong bitter hop finish. The aftertaste is more balanced. Smooth with the low carbonation.
