On cask at the brewpub. A red IPA.

Pours a hazy reddish orange, almost hints of beige, big and thick light tan head forms, settles down to a lot of bubbles and lace on the glass.

Smell is nice, quite hoppy, lots of citrus and floral, grapefruit, a big of tangerine, light pine, caramel and biscuit malt through the middle, nice and rich, good stuff.

Taste is similar, sweet and malty up front, very nice caramel/toffee, some biscuit, floral, solid hoppiness, grapefruit and pine, nice herbal bitterness in the finish, but well balanced.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with low carbonation, balanced and easy drinking.

Cask pint at Le Cheval Blanc.

Beautiful rusty pour with a finger of creamy off-white head. Decent retention and lacing. Great west coast IPA aroma with grapefruit, pine, caramel and biscuit. While there's certainly a solid malt backbone of biscuit and caramel, it acts more as a springboard for the hops than a dominant feature. The hops are fantastic too - full of resiny goodness, big grapefruit qualities and even floral notes. Medium body with a great cask texture and low carbonation.

A smooth easy drinker, packed with hop goodness that showcases how good cask can be. A really nice job from Le Cheval Blanc.

A- Looks brown but look hard enough and in the right light and you'll see the Darkest red with orange edges. Dirty white head was fine. 5 minutes and not a single sip later, I'm left with a 2mm layer and lacing that's just as soggy looking, if not more, as a Nugget IPA I tasted earlier.

S- ''Mmmh'' is exactly the sound I made even though I was sitting there alone. Delicious tropical citrus hops and a little guava bubble gum. Something robust about it.

T- Tastes really fresh. Hops taste as fresh as my three week old home-brewed IPA. Definite white grapefruit in here. Some sweetness but you still can't call this sweet. This isn't the first time I've though of this, but this beer revives that though: ''How can beer taste so much like certain foods?''.

M- Close to high carbonation. Frothy with a dry finish. Really teeth gritting.

D- High because it's so refreshing, but the bitterness might wear you out drinking this all night. Two pints is plenty.

Very good. Not a favorite but I would like to try it again.
