From notes at Cheval Blanc
70 IBU in a tulip.
My first cask ale.

A- Deep black with red highlights. Cardboard brown head doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon. The bubbles have some rainbow reflections like soap. Not sure what causes that in some beers.

S- Terrific mokaccino smell with a bit of hops in there. Something nutty in the back. Reminds me of a ferrero rocher. I don't know if its because it warmed up or because this was after tasting it (probably because it warmed up and some head cleared out, exposing liquid) but I can now smell the hops. Chocolate coffee hops which is awesome. The alcohol also shines through in a most pleasant way.

T- Lots of hops in here. I've rarely gotten such fresh, lemony-lime hop flavor in a stout. And it fits right in. Dark chocolate. Sourness. Coffee burp. Considerably sweet. Alcohol rises and comes out the nose.

M- Very creamy. Like drinking warm milk. Low carbonation is just right. Hops tease your enamel just enough to be noticeable.

D- High. I'm pacing myslef to have time to review it properly. A highly sessionable stout. Never tasted a stout quite like this one.

Great. A stout IPA hybrid. I've developed a small craving for this one, often ending my Cheval Blanc sessions with one.
Never disappointed.

Bottle: Poured a deep pitch-black color stout with a medium off-white creamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of dry roasted malt with loads of black chocolate and light dry bitter finish. Taste is also a very concoction of black chocolate with some roasted malt and light lactose notes to offset some of the bitterness. Body is quite full with nice creamy texture and some good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Very well brewed with nice level of complexity but also has a good drinkability factor.
