The Brass, the Brass. It's definitely the best dining in Mount Pleasant, a town otherwise bereft of fine dining. The pub grub scene in MP is actually pretty good, but if you're looking for a formal experience, then the Brass is the only way to go.

One is greeted by some rather standoffish decor, like being trapped in the bar from Cheers, or maybe a Brauhaus from the late 80s. Everything is green and gold, the chairs are old, the tables look like they were fashioned from beachwood, the carpet is hotel-purple. It's dark, but not on purpose. The colors aren't reflective and the windows are sparse.

Everything else about the Brass, however, is excellent. The joint is clean, has a big bar and two seating areas, a separate lunch and dinner menu (both fantastic), an attentive staff, and a warm, inviting feel despite the American Psycho decor. The service is outstanding, replete with beer recommendations, comments about the weather, and free samples. The beer selection is second to none in town, well-rotated locals with an emphasis on seasonals and hard-to-get beers (they tap KBS and Hopslam annually). The food, again, is outstanding.

The Brass is definitely a must-hit if you're a craft enthusiast and you're in Mount Pleasant for an extended period of time.

This is a nice little cozy bar. They have an exceptional selection of beers on tap and in bottle. The beers on tap are rotated on a regular basis and they also rotate the bottles quite often. They like to carry off the wall beers like Founders Kentucky Bourbon stout and Sierra Nevada's Big Foot ale when they are available.

The Brass has recently started having Beer Tasting and Information nights a one to two times a month. They have been bringing in representative from local Michigan breweries like, Founders, Atwater and Arbor Brewing Co.

Iam here visiting Mount Pleasant and my buddies roomate started telling me about this place he works part time at that has anawesome micro selection I was a bit skeptical went to check it out.It sits in the old business district of town next the college student haunt Rubbles, nice lookin restaurant with different area pictures and a nice brass bar with only eight taps,Stoney Creek vanilla porter,Bells amber,Dark Horse raspberry, and a few imports like Pilner Irquell etc...but the bottle selection is great at least three or four bottles from some of the well known Michigan breweries I had Dark Horse Sapient Trip,Michigan Brewing High Seas IPA and New Holland Sun Dog amber on my first visit and a tap of Dark Horse raspberry.Real cool menu that took me by suprise on Thursday it was tapas night we got the chicken and asparagus turnovers and risotto cakes both were very good and inexpensive.Went for lunch on Friday and had grilled portabella and gouda flatbread that kicked ass and was only $6.00.Going today for brunch and some more good beers, they have a few Drgaonmeade bottles I'll have to try,Tuesday nights are Michigan beer night $1.50 pints and bottles of Michigan micros,a great find in this college town good food great beer and cheap!
