Crisp, west coast style double IPA with orange juice fermented through in secondary. A concept inspired by our Green Goose program to harness the juice of the oranges zested in the Sofie process that would otherwise go to waste!

Pours a slightly hazy orange amber color with a small white head that dissipated fairly quickly to a small cap that leaves some lacing on the glass. The aroma is mildly hoppy with very little orange. The flavor is a little more orange forward with a decent hop bite. Nice feel on this one and overall a fun beer.

I am in the midst of a small GI brewery horizontal as a part of the eradication of The Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody. I am getting rid of them at a pretty good clip at this point & there are far fewer coming in so the end is actually within sight.

From the Bottle: "The Brew House Series"; "A crisp and citrusy Double India Pale Ale brewed with Orange Juice"; "Generously Hopped"; "An expert command of process & equipment is the hallmark of the beers in our Brew House Series"; "70 IBU".

My bottle had some age on it so following the Pop! of the cap, I went with a very slow, gentle pour into the awaiting glass. Once it was sufficiently decanted, an in-glass swirl raised two-plus fingers of soapy, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention, leaving nice lacing in its wake as it fell. Color was solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was very citrusy and it made me think of Mandarin Oranges, if that is what they used. Mouthfeel was medium, a little light for this style. The taste was very orange-citrusy with a caramel malt backbone & I was reminded of the Brach's Orange Caramels that my maternal grandmother used to put in her candy dish for us. It also had some fusel heat to keep me on my toes. Finish was dry, but not overly dry. It was a Good, but not Very Good iteration of the style. YMMV.

Hardly noticed the "juicy" part of the beer. It poured and looked nice but it seemed like it was a "let's throw this and this in and what happens. If I see it again, I'll walk past it next time.

Appearance: Pours a hazy orange with the full three fingers; decent retention and a smattering of lace

Smell: Malty, with a candied orange aspect; pithy

Taste: Malt forward, with juicy orange flavors that devolve into pith and pine; a lot of bitterness in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate to high carbonation

Overall: Not sure what the brewery is shooting for here, though I note that the beer is nine month's old; still, a West Coast DIPA with orange juice.....why?

12 oz bottle with an August 2017 date stamp
Pours with a clear, deep amber body topped by a large, off-white, foamy, durable head. Very good and rather sticky lacing.
Aroma: quite fruity with notes of oranges, orange peel and other tropical fruits.
Flavor: earthy and citrusy hops.
Feel: Medium+ body with medium carbonation.

12/16/17: $9.50 20 ounce draft pour at Goose Island lounge at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Clear thin pour, minimal carbonation and head. Light hops and citrus aroma. Very firm taste, nice blend of hops offset by citrus. Mouth feel firm, good solid going down. Overall solid offering.
