Pours a rich amber color with little head and poor retention. There isn't any lacing. Smells strongly of roasted malts. Its fits the style of a red ale (malts with a little hoppy). Roasted malt flavor is strong initially but becomes very weak by the end. The hop aftertaste is a nice addition, but could have been stronger since the malts were weak. Average carbonation with a slightly chewy body. Haven't had a red ale in a while and this was a nice change overall. I would recommend a try.

deep orange red in color with a small head of white that sat effortlessly on the top of the glass. Falling back down to earth it left a little bit of lacing on the sides and the bottom of the glass, but again nothing that would really blow me away. Still though decent look overall. Light caramel coming off the glass is the first thing I notice, warming mixing in some light herbal notes, hints of grasses and sweet sugary esters.

12 ounce bottle from Trader Joe's. Pours a hazy copper color with a white, lasting head. Aroma is citrusy hops with grainy notes. Taste is dark fruit and sweet caramel malt in the beginning followed by earthy hop bitterness and citrusy notes. Medium body. Nice, complex brew.

Bought at TJ as part of a mixed 6 pack. Poured into a pint glass, the color is the in the border of gold and red. It has a beige head with decent lacing.

The aroma is of malts, a bit of brown sugar, and some citrus from the hops.

As expected, the malts lead the way and they add a nice bready component with some caramel undertones. The hops are evident in the finish.

The beer has a nice medium thick mouth and is very smooth. It is extremely easy to drink. It has enough complexity to session and is a great accompaniment to most
non-spicy food.

A- Pours a nice medium copper with a slight orange/reddish hue. Roasted caramel is a good description of color on this one. Light white head, pours to about 2 fingers...whittles down to a light cap covering the beer. Leaves a nice consistent fluttering lacing down the side of the glass.

S- Roasted malt, sweet grass, slight smoke aroma, mild banana ester.

T- Sweet creamy malt, toasted caramel, butternut, mild smoke character. Spiced apple, touch of cocoa. Slight acidic, diacetyl note, that presents off the banana character.

M- Highly carbonated, light dry finish. Light/Medium body, with a nice roasty character, finishes pretty clean on the palate.

D- Pretty true to the style/tradition of an Irish Red Ale. Would have a couple, but not reaching for it in the night, or longing for it after a long separation. The price for sure is a value, but I feel that it skimps slightly on the balance of the style.

A: Copper/red clear. Two finger foamy ivory head that dissipates to a nice cap shortly after pour. Good lacing around glass. Nice Looking beer.

S: Can smell the roasted malt, hops, and some caramel sweetness. Smells fairly moderate for a red ale.

T: Can taste the roasted malts the most with some hop bite at the end. Aftertaste is decent but not as strong as I'd like.

M: Fairly light bodied. Decent mouth coating.

D: An easy red ale to drink, however, it doesnt deliver the taste like other similars do.

Pours a clear, dark, coppery amber with a rather thick off-white but not too persistent head. Aroma is about average, malty with hints of fruit and caramel. Flavor is mainly malty, slightly bitter, with faint nutty and caramel hints. Texture is silky smooth and just tingly enough so that you know this is beer.

Served out of a 12oz bottle into a standard pint glass.

A: deep red-to-brown color, 1/2 finger head that quickly diminished

S: mainly a malty aroma, very faint hop aroma

T: roasted malt taste is the overall takeaway, had a slightly sweet aftertaste.

MF: medium bodied, moderate carbonation

Drinkability: middle of the road beer. not bad, but not great.

Presentation: Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into a standard pint glass. Label is red and black with Trinity in large, capital letter. No freshness date.

Appearance: Pours with just over 1 finger of light tan head. This settles to a thin coating of foam. Decent lacing as I dirnk this one. The beer itself is light mahogany in color with a lot of activity and a lot of suspended particulate matter. Not too appetizing looking. Some sediment (fortunately) remained in the bottle.

Smell: Somewhat nutty, sweet caramel malt upfront. Slight vegatal hop tones in the finish.

Taste: Very slight hint of coffee upfront, followed by a sweet yet mellow malt body. Dry finish, with a little bit of huskiness. Flavor fades fades, very little linger time.

Mouthfeel: Average carbonation level. Body is decent.

Drinkability: Kind of what I expected, a decent enough beer, but nothing exceptional that will cause me to seek it out again.

12oz bottle from trader joe's. no date.

relatively clear, relatively dark copper with dull amber tones. large, off-white head fades to wispy, bubbly layer. decent, coarse, bubbly lacing.

aroma: some fusel or phenols detectable even on pouring. grassy hop, hints of caramel malt and apple esters. metallic whiff. notes of fusel and phenol persist in the back.

taste: caramelized, bready malt and hint of aplle esters are matched by a grassy hop and moderate bitterness, but clash with the fusel/phenol note again.

not too thin, almost smooth, but fizzy carbonation and those darned phenols and fusels again, bringing out an umpleasant, almost astringent character to the finish.

did i mention this thing is packed with fusels?

I'm hoping my lighting is off but this brew poured a red with greenish tint to it. Not a pretty beer at all. Faint smell of malts. Taste is a bit grassy, a bit of malt and hops to balance the finish, which is the best part of the brew the aftertaste is ok. Otherwise it is a thin watery brew. There seem to be two takes on this style, thicker and maltier like Sam Adams and thinner like Killians. I prefer the likes of Sam Adams. I won't buy this again.

The first sip was that burnt coffee / brown ale / smoked taste that I normally don't enjoy. Some day I hope to!

Suprisingly to me, after the first half the second half didn't have nearly as much of that flavor (could be because I was standing near a grill doing cooking and the smell of the grill smoke reduced the smell/taste of the beer)

Overall not bad, decent interpretation, but I don't know if I would get it again.

Looks like black tea with a slight white head, some lacing. Looks watery. I really cannot believe this is a Goose beer, must be a low brow try from the bottling plant, not the brewpub. Got it from Trader Joe's, must be an outsourced situation, only $6 for a six pack I didn't expect a lot, but when I found out it was made by Goose my expectations went up.

Anyway, this has a grainy, off type smell. The taste is grainy with not much malt, and not much satisfaction for the drinker. A bit of malt sweetness at the end, then finishes dry. Just OK. Thin and watery, better than your average Bud, but not by much. Leave this one alone.

I'm tempted to bring this on a BA trading event and see if anyone can guess it's from Goose Island!

Poured into pint glass from the bottle. Murky mahogany color with not much head happening.

Smell is a little bread and a little caramel.

Taste is interesting with some tobacco, caramelized stone fruit, and honey. Finishes up spicy with the malted rye. Not much hop presence, but enough to keep things from being sugary sweet.

A decent medium-bodied Irish Red. Certainly a good American interpretation of the style, if nothing else.

A fairly remarkable shade of dark red/brown. Small head doesn't last long. No lacing to speak of. Mild smell of sweet malt, a touch of floral hops. Taste has a surprising amount of hop bitterness, more than your average amber/red ale. I was expecting more roasted malt flavor considering its deep brown color. A bit of sweetness gets a little more toasty/caramel nuance as it warms up. Still, the hops and malts don't seem to "layer" very much. Some moderate flavors show up, but they don't have much depth. It is pretty easy drinking. Though the flavors run a little thin, there isn't much wrong with it-- and at $5.99, a pretty decent value at Trader Joes.
