Paid $50 plus city tax in a shop in Chicago. Poured half the bottle into a snifter. Really looks like Regal Rye, and taste is very similar but not as good. Tasted BCBS base and slight marzipan, mildly acidic after taste. Fruity

It smells like blue Play-Doh and that is pretty much impossible to overcome. It does become better as it warms and is still what I would call drinkable, but the sweet, nutty almond flavor is very strong and artificial tasting, the blueberry is reminiscent of cough syrup flavoring, and I could never drink an entire bottle.

Very good out of the box. I think this beer will be awesome in a couple of years. :)

In the snifter it was black in color with no head, just a few bubbles making their way to the surface.
The first thing that struck me about the aroma was how sweet it was. Fruity sweetness, but also some almond. Chocolate next, then bourbon and vanilla.
The taste followed the nose. Blueberries, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Almonds were there, but in the background.
A warming mouthfeel.
A nice beer just shy of the too sweet side.

Black in color and impenetrable to light. There's a quarter inch of creamy brown on top. The aroma is of sweet bourbon and blueberries. The dominant flavor is of sweet bourbon, but at the back of the palate I'm also tasting the blueberry. The nuttiness of the almond is present throughout the palate and melds very well with the bourbon. The mouth is chewy, thick, and sticky.

2017 version on tap in March 2018.

Opaque brown-black body with a thin tan head that reduces to a very durable ring.

Intriguing aroma is both interesting and fruity, with blueberries way more obvious than the almond.
Perhaps a tad too sweet, but that seems in keeping with the almond addition. The aroma is a bit medicinal but, thankfully, not the flavor. Very smooth with well hidden alcohol, particularly in comparison to the regular version.

Look: A small brown head sort of quickly dies to medium to thinner lacing that lasts through out the glass over this nearly black beer.
Smell: Mellowed bourbon with a mixture of vanilla, blueberry, and maraschino cherry aroma.
Taste: Similar to the aroma with the vanilla and berries on dryish bourbon and dark roasted malts taste.
Feel: Drying, lasting aftertaste with a bit of lingering berry and a hint of the vanilla, makes me want to have a bowl of ice cream or something like that. Not that I need another bowl of ice cream today.
Overall: A bit to expenses for beer at just of $20 for 16.9 fluid ounces, so I don't see myself running back and buying a case of this stuff but for a one time purchase it was pretty tasty.

Dark pour, medium body. Tan head.

Really nice balance nose of almond and blueberry. Predominantly sweeet, subtle roast, chocolate.

Medium carb, good mouthfeel . Smooth. Subtle booze.

Nice nutty, jammy flavors. Light oak and roast. Subtle chocolate. Great balance, very good.

16.9 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass

A: Slight hazy mocha colored head that settles to a film. The body is a rich diamond of pure blackness.

S: It starts out as light bourbon with hints of berry and some almond, if you do a quick back in forth of the glass the almond comes in much stronger. The almond extract almost overwhelms on the back and forth.

T: The bourbon flavor hits you first, soft caramel and vanilla, then you get the almond and hints of berries. It finishes muddled and messy on the end. Lots of the extract brings bitterness where it doesn't need to be.

M: Medium bodied a little alcohol slickness.

O: This is a pretty average beer. It has all the intentions of being pretty amazing, but it can't pull it off. The Almond extract is overwhelming the blueberry is muddled and it's just bizarre.
