Notes: It’s 7%, but totally crushable — it’s not quite like any other IPA you’ve had. Big, bracing, piney hop flavors meet a tropical bouquet of Nugget, Citra, and Mosaic hops. There’s a balanced bitterness that blends seamlessly into the light to medium body. Sip it or rip it. We're not your mom.

Look: clear and golden. Long lasting large white head. A lot of carbonation bubbles coming up from the bottom.

Smell: citrus fruits with piney notes. Smells a little artificial but not bad.

Taste: much stronger pine and bitter hop notes than the aroma. The citrus is less dominant but still there. Abv masked well this goes down well.

Feel: medium to heavy feel, a sturdy beer. Quite a bit of carbonation that adds depth to the beer.

Overall: pretty solid overall, seems like a run of the mill ipa that offers a lot of abv for the dollar. I’m not much of an ipa guy but it’s on par with most other ipas I’ve had. Probably won’t get again but not opposed to possibly trying again. I might appreciate it more in season.

Better and drier than Goose. Looks nice, good head, smells great.
Nice body and feel and abv is well hidden. Much better than The Goose, but still not a top tier ipa.
Great cheap crusher

Pours a clear straw color with a good white head which lingers. Some pine on the nose, but nothing else that’s noteworthy. Taste is of almond, pine and hops without much bitterness. Meh

The label on the twelve ounce can mentions "tropical and juicy". The character of a West Coast IPA is often piney and resinous. Confusing, yet the contents are now in a clear glass liter mug for review. This looks like a lower level commercial American lager. It's a light amber and as translucent as almost any you could find. The aroma is just about as thin and not worthy of description. For the taste buds, it does amp up the contribution to enjoyment and defines itself as an AIPA. Although a little light across the tongue, the taste has a good balance of malt and basically nondescript hops. This is neither tropical and juicy, nor piney and resinous. It's a mild AIPA probably geared to a mainstream audience. Yawn.

16 ounce can poured into a Duvel tulip glass. Best by date of 8/6/21.

L---Absolutely crystal clear, bright golden color. Big, fluffy head that faded quickly to a ring and left very nice lacing.

S---Nicely balanced between hop and malt notes. A little bitter. Light pine and tropical fruit.

T---Bright & hoppy. pine & tropical fruit follow from the nose. As does the balance. Tasty.

F---Lighter bodied than I expected from the strong nose & taste.

O---A nice IPA. Nothing fancy, but worthy of a buy.

Solid beer. There was a BOGO, buy one get one, free at my local grocery so I thought what the hell! Glad I did, as it’s a beer I would drink after mowing the lawn or just enjoying with friends.

From the can, it pours a clear golden yellow color with a nice, long lasting white head. Somewhat citrusy in the nose, with an undercurrent of sweet malt. In the mouth, it is lightly malty with a refreshing taste of citrus. Decent.

Look: Pours a clear golden yellow color with a pure white head of dense foam. Head retains for about three minutes and laces the glass moderately well.

Aroma: The nose is slightly bitter, featuring soapy orange peel, sweet mango and an earthy hop "dankness". There are some notes of pineapple jam but it's very feint as well as some minor notes of toffee.

Taste: Much cleaner than I would have expected. Upfront it's tastefully malty with light and approachable flavors of biscuits and tea cookies. It quickly transitions into dry flavors of spicy, floral hop and pine resin, before going fruity, ending on flavors of passionfruit, pineapple and oranges. A lingering semisweet grapefruit rind bitterness blankets the finish.

Feel: Medium body, low carbonation. Oddly sessionable at 7% abv.

Overall: Solid beer. Fours across the board. I have mixed feelings on Goose Island, I find a lot of their beers to be average but I really enjoyed this actually, it's nothing absolutely phenomenal or anything, but this is just a pleasant beer to drink. Good juicy, hoppy flavor with a dry, bittersweet finish. I can't complain.

7/2/19...bright gold, clear and still. Light fruity nose. Notes of straw too. Snappy citrus flavor with a light pilsy bitter. Lemony. Peppery too. Rinds. Very nice.

Good beer for summer occasions. A little aftertaste of sour but has a smooth mouthfeel. Great with pizza or barbecue but it’s not a serious India Pale Ale and is more like a strong ale.

L: Very attractive color if pineapple juice. Nice and frothy looking. Short lived, one-finger barely off white head recedes to the surface leaving moderate lacing within two minutes.

S: Smells like IPA scented soap... slightly tart, bitter, tropical soapy smell. Getting some guava, pineapple, and star fruit on the nose.

T: Taste follows the smell note for note, but the soap is stronger here. Everytime I think "hey, this is actually pretty good!" I get this soapy flavor. I dont know what that's about. There's very little left in terms of maltiness in what I just drank. It's definitely a one trick pony and its trick is juicy hop-forward flavor. But this pony has some work to do, even on it's only trick! Maybe some dankness would round it out and tame the bright notes?

F: the mouthfeel on this is actually really good. Very full, not too much carbonation, juicy, thick... two complaints. You will not get a long lasting, satisfying head on this, and that head contributes a lot to how a beer feels, for me. The other complaint is that this beer seems to cloy to my teeth in an unpleasant way. Beyond that, Next Coast feels good in the mouth.

O: I won't buy this again, but I'll finish the 6 pack. I've got friends who celebrate this stuff. Maybe I'm not an IPA guy. The way I see it, this was a solid effort by Goose Island but the final product does not live up to the ambition. You can't juice load 'er up with juicy hops and expect it to come out great no matter what.
