12-oz bottle from a Pub Pak, freshness date "040405". Pours a dark mohagany color, thin head that leaves a small amount of lace. Smells primarily of chocolate. Taste is of chocolate and coffee, with a bit of an offputting flavor that fades as the beer warms. Mouthfeel is a bit fuller than a porter, but a this beer is a little sweeter than a regular stout.
All in all, this is not a bad oaty. I doubt I'd make it a regular in my fridge, but it's quite a good brew nonetheless.

Dark brown to light black with minimal light penetration. There's a fingernail of beige about the size of a quarter in the middle of the glass. The aroma is of sweet oatmeal and bakers chocolate. I'm tasting chocolate and oatmeal. The mouth is lightly oily and chewy.

I used to buy this all the time before it was discontinued in 2010. Now it's back with a slightly adjusted ABV from 5.1% to 5.4% along with a new label. I contacted the brewer about the change in ABV, but unfortunately didn't get a useful answer.
2017 - 12oz, bottled on 27JUL17.
Pours jet black with a creamy tan head. Heavy roasted nose with char, chocolate, and oats in the background. Bold roasted barley with dark chocolate, earthy hops, faint anise, burnt coffee, and oats. Fuller side of medium for body; quite astringent, finishing dry with char remaining on the palate. Overall, big roasty oatmeal stout. The char and burnt flavors get a bit overbearing, but it's not bad enough to deter me from liking the beer. Nice to come back to this one after all those years.
