Clear yellow-light gold in colorbwith plenty of carbonation and a half finger of fizzy head. Aromanis of citrus and malt. Taste is orange, malt and a bit of barnyard funk. Clean semi-sweet finish with a bit of malt and tangy orange.

I am normally not a big Saison fan, however, this beer has been on my radar for a while. First smell was clear citrus, fruit, and yeast. The second smell I was able to pick up more specific aromas such as banana and peppery flavors. First taste was very similar to champagne. Carbonated but very smooth on the palate. The taste was sour and citrusy. Aftertaste of earthy flavors. Great beer to drink for a slow sipping event.

$ 10.59 (Including tax)/four pack ($ 0.221/oz) at Riverside Liquors, Grand Rapids, MI.
Bottled 14 Jun 16. Stored at 55 degrees, served at 55 degrees into a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Aroma – fruity/yeasty.
Head large (Maximum 4.8 cm, careful pour), white, fizzy, gone before I could focus the camera, leaving a few scattered bubbles around the glass and some tiny islands from the effervescence.
Lacing – none.
Body – light yellow, clear, lightly effervescent.
Flavor – lightly fruity, some yeast. A little hop bitterness. No malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate – light, watery, lively carbonation.

First time I had this it was $ 8/12 oz bottle in a restaurant. I had four. It was another year before I found it in a beer store. An excellent beer at $ 0.221/oz, still pretty tasty at $ 0.667/oz.
Note: I want to see head and lacing on my beer. Lack thereof means lack of appearance points.

Appearance 3, Aroma 4.25, Flavor 4.25, Palate 4, Overall 4.

Love this style so really looking forward to this one.

Poured into a snifter from a cold 12oz bottle bottled 11/3/16-- 6 months on it so hopefully the fruity and floral notes have held up!

Pours a clear golden straw color with a foamy two finger head that quickly dissipates to a half finger. Yeah kind of like champagne... Very bubbly. Leaves a bit of lacing. Not as foamy as others of this style I have had. There is yeast/particulates on the bottom and I poured these in my glass about halfway through giving the beer a haziness.

Aroma is spices, vanilla, citrus, belgian yeast, and floral. That lovely saison aroma done right!

Wow. This is smooth drinking. Taste is citrus--definitely get that orange peel. Lots of spices and yeast with a hint of tartness and vanilla. Just a fantastic blend of belgian yeast and citrus.

Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy upfront with a crisp, dry, highly carbonated finish. Perfection.

I am biased because I love saisons but this beer is fantastic--and affordable for the style. Really regretting only picking up one. I will definitely be seeking more in the future.

On tap at Wegmans Glen Mills
Golden and effervescent, with a bubbly white foam head, slowly dissipating with nice retention
Fruity and yeasty nose
Banana up front, very Belgian. Some metallic something on the finish
Medium high carbonation
Not my favorite, wouldn't rush to try again

This surprised me, a lot better than I thought it would be. Pours pale golden with a quickly disappearing head, smells are citrus, pepper and herbs. Taste is sweet, citrus with a dry peppery finish. Plenty of carbonation. I expected this to be like a wiessbier for some reason which I hate, but it’s not, it’s a very very nice beer.

2016 bottle

It is a slightly cloudy gold with a thin, dirty, soapy head.

It smells like pear/green apple, white wine, and citrus with a mellow yeast.

The body and flavors are very smooth. The yeast is not biting, the malts are soft/delicate. Despite a white wine/champagne taste, it is not real crisp. There is some orange peel, peppery spices, and a little vanilla sweetness in the end. The aftertaste is almost orange creamsicle like.

Very nice.

The Sofie Beer by Goose Island was very interesting. The color was very deep, golden yellow. The Aroma was fruitful, but also had hints of floral. The original taste of the beer was very citrusy and florally. The major taste and aftertaste I experienced was pear. Overall, the beer was light and a fair beer.
