Tropical Beer HugTropical Beer Hug
Notes: This double dry-hopped double IPA grabs you with a big tropical beer hug—bursting with hops, hops and more hops. Notes of mango, pineapple, peach, and citrus are followed up with dank pine notes. Like a bear hug... but from a beer.

Bought a 19.2oz can $2.49 Fujiokas
56 days before best by date
Smell of pine, citrus
Amber-golden color
Medium mouthfeel
Light-medium carbonation after pour
Taste of alcohol hits me first, then pine, citrus, oranges, alcohol aftertaste. Reminds me of rubbing alcohol.
Overall not that great. When alcohol comes through like this it is not very well made. Cheap price though.

Entry dated 24 October 2021. Liquor store gave this to me for free. I can tell why. Boozy, caramel, light floral. Not much in way of actual tropical fruit. Medium body, lower carb. Oxidized. Who knows how old it is, but it’s best by 01 Jan 2022, so..

Pours a translucent reddish orange with a finger of white foam, receding to a decent cap and sheets of sticky lacing. Nose is pine, bitter hop, orange, melon, grapefruit, and sweet malt. Taste follows suit with a sweet candied orange taste and heavy melon notes. Feel is full but crisp and refreshing. Delicious beer to finish out 2021.

Clear golden with a nice white head. This has a lovely tropical nose with all the right notes. Mangos, pineapple, light guava. Taste follows suit. Light pale malt front. Dinner roll sweetness. Smooth feel that is surprisingly light for its grain bill. No trace of the alcohol. Active carbonation with mild effervescence. Super drinkable and delicious. And the kicker is it's $2.49 for a 19.9 oz can. 5 bucks for 40 ounces of high gravity deliciousness? Game on!

Tropical Beer Hug brewed by Goose Island Beer Co. The brew has an ABV of 9.90% This Imperial IPA pours out of a 20oz can into a pint beer glass. The color is a nice deep golden amber color with a nice white head. There is also a nice amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell of Tropical Beer Hug is rich with hop bitterness at first then it mixes with earthy grains an malts. So far this is your typical IPA , not saying that is a bad thing. It is a nice inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is Bold with flavors, lots of hop bitterness mixed with sharp earthy grains an malts. If you are a fan of extra hoppy beer, you should definitely check this one out. The body of Tropical Beer Hug is heavy, not overly but definitely a heavy drinking brew. It is really hard to pick up on the 9.90% ABV in this brew, it is just that smooth. The mouth feel is Bold, Hoppy ,Rich, Clean, Smooth and Refreshing. Overall I am going to give Tropical Beer Hug a solid 4 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again givin the opportunity to. Goose Island Beer Co. Did a super nice job with this Imperial IPA.

Pours a not quite clear pale gold, nice white head and some nice lacing.
Snot locker gets tropical fruit and a hint of citrus, taste buds get that also. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated. This was a very pleasant surprise from Budweiser!

19.2 ounce can into IPA glass, best before 10/26/2021. Pours lightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 3 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas and flavors of big pineapple, apricot, mango, grapefruit, orange, passion fruit, berries, wood, cedar, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Boozy notes in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Moderate pine, citrus rind, herbal, woody, peppery bitterness on the finish. Some peppery alcohol spice as it warms. Medium-plus carbonation and medium body. Lingering sticky resins and spicy alcohol drying. Fairly crisp with some grainy malt backbone. Zero residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Increasing warmth and booze of 9.9% after the finish. Smooth slow sipper, but just a bit too boozy. Reminds me of a less malty devil dancer somehow? The hops are very dank and pretty aggressive. Liked the profile from Nugget, Sultana, Citra, Mosaic, Eureka, Azacca, Strata hops; as expected. Its a nice buzzer. More of a west coast than a hazy, I know people associate DDH with hazy but dry hopping has been around far longer than any of those.

Pours clear orangish yellow with a thick white cap that lasts and leaves nice lacing. continuous stream of effervescent bubbles feed said cap. Aroma is full of tropical fruit. Flavor follows the nose, sweet up front with a nice bitter finish. Feel is medium bodied and somewhat lacking carbonation. Overall a decent DIPA but not great. A 12 ounce portion would be more appreciated than this 19 ounce can.

19.2oz can poured into a pint

A- pours a golden orange color with a one-finger foamy white head that has good retention

S- mango, orange zest, pine resin, bready malt

T- citrusy zesty hops up front give notes of grapefruit and orange, followed by some tropical mango notes. The finish gives some resinous pine with a bit of a bready malt linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns into a slightly creamy finish

19.2oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of grapefruit, pineapple, orange. sweet caramel and toffee. Sweet tropical fruit taste with toasted caramel and a piney bitterness.

Date on the can says best by 10/29/21 and enjoyed in a 16oz Founders snifter on 8/29/21.
Appearance: Pours a golden yellow, the typical beer color. Translucent without any visible haze with about a finger of foam.
Smell: Considering the DDH I’m surprised at the lackluster aroma. Nose consists of pine and resin with subtle citrus and some cannabis. Pine dominates the front end with some grassy earthy notes as well. Citrus is mostly stone fruit with notes of tangerine, apricot, and mango with some pineapple and orange rind. Cannabis and dank cat piss flavor on the back end, but I’m not complaining. Malts have a cracker and biscuity flavor keeping the beer on the light side.

Taste: Taste follows the nose with piney resin on the front end with cannabis on the back end. Citrus is subtle and the whole flavor profile just feels a bit watered down.

Feel: Light bodied with quite a bit of carbonation which makes the beer less smooth, but it keeps the beer light and fairly refreshing. Despite the lack flavor the 9.9% abv is fairly well hidden.

Overall: This beer is fine but nothing special. The flavor just feels a bit empty and watered down. Probably wouldn’t buy again, not that it was bad, but it wasn’t anything special and there are other beers I need to try.

19.2 oz can, best by July 8th. A little long in the tooth here but it's a high ABV drinker so we should be okay.

Opaque hazy amberish-golden glow, with a finger of head that leaves lace precisely where it was when it recedes.

Aroma of clean water, fresh pineapple, green hop matter, graham cracker, bright and pithy citrus, toasted caramel, honey, and biscuit dough.

Flavor stabs the palate with greens, bringing sharp kale right off the bat. It follows with lemon drop, white grapefruit zest, a hint of honey lozenge, and some bright pineapple and perhaps a suggestion of guava on the finish. Honey lozenge continues on. The taste of diesel is buried only slightly beneath the rest of the flavors here.

Feel is crisp, cutting, mildly resinous and then hugely resinous on the finish, lots of chili-pepper-like heat on the front palate and in the throat, and a drying, whiskey-like finish.

Overall, I didn't care for this one as much as Lost Palate, but it's really not that bad. I think an 88 is about right for this guy. I won't finish it due to its high ABV and calorie count - it has to be equally as enjoyable for me - but the curious person who likes imperial IPAs should give this one a shot. Once. Maybe.

This beer appeals to my eye. It pours a hazy copper color with a relatively thick head. Head dissipated quickly but left a lot of lacing behind.

The smell, for me is close to heavenly. It’s got a piney smell, with mango and citrus following closely behind.

The taste follows the smell pretty closely. This is a tropical juice bomb with plenty of juiciness to round is all out. Really pleasant flavor for a 9.9% beer. The alcohol flavor doesn’t come on strong at all.

This a is a light/medium bodied double ipa. Light carbonation. Pretty smooth. Wonderful for a hot summers day.

Overall, I like this beer a lot more than I thought I would. A really good one from Goose Island here. If you like a high octane juicy double ipa this one may suit your fancy. The pine certainly compliments it all. Really good beer.
