Notes: We partnered with our friends at Blanton’s and aged our Imperial Stout for 18 months in barrels from one of the world’s most sought-after bourbons—Blanton's Original Single Barrel Bourbon. Taken from the center-cut or middle sections of the famous Warehouse H, Blanton’s Original Single Barrel was once only available for ambassadors, dignitaries, and friends of the Blanton family, but now is available for everyone to enjoy. Just as we set the standard for barrel-aged stouts, Blanton’s set the standard for single barrel bourbons. Through our partnership, we created a truly unique reserve filled with rich dark chocolate and oak notes, finished with warm aromatics of baking spices such as clove, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

L - deep dark brown, nearly black with a tan head that dissipates nearly instantly with no real head or lacing to speak of
S - Rich bourbon and caramel, rich semi sweet chocolate, molasses, oak,
T - follows the nose: Rich bourbon up front and throughout with heavy notes of caramel and semi sweet chocolate, molasses, oak and some earth, some vanilla. Some char and slight hints of butterscotch
F - full bodied, light carbonation, smooth and silky
O - honestly this is the most complete, well rounded bourbon county stout I've had to date and one of the best barrel aged stouts I've had. Fantastic beer.

Smell is nice with some bourbon and chocolate notes, which both follow through in the flavor (although lacking depth). But the bigger disappointment is how light this feels for a BCBS. This trend has continued over the past 5-6 years, unfortunately of lighter and lighter feel BCBS beers in general.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

There's a lot of barrel spice and general warming spices on the nose, with dark fruit, marshmallow, char, and rich melted dark chocolate.

This is really one of the best Bourbon County variants that I've ever had. The Reserve subvariants tend to be my favorite entries in the Bourbon County lineup, and this is certainly near the top. There's lots of char, and lots of oak spice, and just a lot of really, really delicious barrel character. There's lots of dark chocolate, and some toasted marshmallow character, with caramel and butterscotch.

This is medium bodied, with a nice boozy warmth, and a great silky mouthfeel to it.

The price on this one is pretty rough, but it's just about nearly worth that high price of $55 retail.

Very good, char and bourbon lead the way with an underlying dose of dark fruits. Sticky, velvety, smooth, boozy.

Typical bcbs black body with a thick tan collar. Full disclosure blanton's might be my favorite bourbon, but I really felt this bcbs captured what it does so well: pure bourbon, caramel, dark fruit, rustic oak, char, fudge, soft vanillins, a whisper of cinnamon, and faint earth make up both the smell and taste. Taste has a striking balance of barrel and stout, where nose leans more barrel with caramel and wood standing out in particular. Both amazing, favorite variant of 2021 so far. The only achilles heal is the feel, which while warm, smooth, rich and full, it is a bit light for the series and style. The wife loved it
