Notes: For the first time ever, we’re digging into the Proprietor’s (Chicago-only release) vault and bringing back a fan favorite with Bourbon County Fourteen Stout. But this time, it’s with a twist. We’re paying homage to the popular Proprietor’s 2014 recipe, but upping the rye ante by adding rye to the mash bill. Layering cassia bark, cocoa nibs, panela sugar, and coconut water, this stout has an intricate, sweet and spicy flavor profile that will have fans going back sip after sip.

Way too rich. I could only drink about half of it.

Loads and loads of cinnamon. A bit too much, as in makes it really spicy. Doesn't compare to fresh Proprietor's 2014 on taste or on feel. This one is a lot thinner.

Bottle pour- dark as a moonless night with quickly dissipating chocolate milk head leaving scant lacing and a ring of tiny foamy bubbles. Nose is spicy boozy cinnamon with a hint of roasty malt. Taste follows with big sweetness and lingering cinnamon/spice on the finish. Really sweet.

500 mL bottle. Almost black. Smells of all cinnamon and booze. Bourbon behind it. Tastes of sweet coconut, cinnamon, bourbon. But between the sugar and cinnamon, this is undrinkable. Super boozy and sweet. Yikes.

Picked up a pint from TW-Greenville, SC on 11-27-21 for $24.99. Best by 23SEP26; consumed 1-5-22.

Beer poured black as night with an okay tan head that dissipated quickly.

Nose is awesome with the usual BCBS characteristics, this variant with rye barrels and cinnamon being very pungent.

Taste is following the nose in which the very large malt base absorbed the rye barrel nicely giving a nice touch of booze with rye spiciness. Cinnamon is the leading adjunct combining nicely with the sugar. Cocoa nibs are barely perceptible and play second fiddle. Finishes nicely balanced from the barrel.

Mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied and very smooth.

Overall a very tasty dessert beer that i am finding very enjoyable!

500ml bottle served in a tulip. Drink by 23SEP26. 13.2% abv.

Pours black, almost still, tiny head. Smell is spices -- cinnamon and nutmeg, anise. Coconut, booze, dark coffee.

Taste is lots of coconut, a substantial amount of cinnamon, lots of chocolate, boozy and sweet vanilla and chocolate.

Mouthfeel is thick, sticky, a little syrupy.'s not bad. Far from my favorite.

Silky, syrupy pour that is dark brown with little head. Make no mistake, this is a dessert beer, and although thoroughly on the sweet side of the register, it is simply delicious. Chocolate, coconut (subtle), balanced by the underlying bite of rye. A dangerous 13.2% ABV made even more clandestine by a beautifully blended brew. You'll never think it packs a punch until you decide to stand up. But now that you're standing, walk tall. You've just enjoyed a masterpiece.

This one was dominated by a cinnamon flavor. The barrel and a fudgy chocolate taste were both there but only in the background. I did not even get a hint of coconut. I left it alone and let it warm to see if the flavor profile changed and it was still a cinnamon bomb.

Poured from 16.9 oz bottle into snifter.
A: Pours a dark brown hue with a thin skim of dark mocha head that quickly recedes.
S: Dark chocolate and sweet cinnamon, cacao nibs, earthy bark, molasses, and a hint of leather.
T: Dark chocolate, cinnamon bark, cacao nibs, boozy pear, molasses, whiskey, and a hint of charred wood.
M: Medium body. Smooth and slightly oily feel. Dark and fruity sweetness with some dry and mildly bitter herbal elements.
D: A very interesting take on the base beer. All the extra stuff (cassia bark, cacao nibs, panela, and coconut water) tossed in comes together extremely well. Well done!

Bourbon County Brand Fourteen Stout pours black, with a very small, but long lasting tan head. Aroma has big notes of roasted coconut, and sweet bark. Flavor is sweeter, chocolate and coconut, but bark, and a little bitter near the end. Good body and feel. Overall, sweeter and richer, with lots of flavors, easy to drink still.

Pours jet black with no discernible head. Coconut, vanilla, almond, and dark roasted malt on the nose. Coconut, chocolate, vanilla, and slight nuttiness on the palate. ultra smooth, dense, and full of chew. Full bodied with a velvety mouth fell due to the light carbonation. I enjoyed this variant more than I thought I would. I find that coconut can really overwhelm all the other flavors in a stout but this was well balanced and well crafted.

Pours typical of BCBS jet black, no head visible head and retention. Nose is fresh coconut, vanilla, almond, dark roasted malt, booze. Taste essentially follows with coconut, chocolate, vanilla, some nuttiness all evenly balanced, finishing with a gentle warming booziness. The coconut was really well done here, as that flavor can easily tilt towards sun tan lotion. Didn't get a hint of the cassia here, and the sweetness gets overwhelming after a few good sips (glad I only had a 5oz pour of this). Mouthfeel again typical of BCBS - ultra smooth, dense, and full of chew. Overall, it has its knocks, but a good presentation of coconut.

A: Opaque black, 1 fingers width of mocha colored head, dissipates fairly quickly and leaves no lacing. 4.5

S: Aromas of roasted malt, unsweetened raw coconut, and cardboard. Next is a pretty aggressive cinnamon, and barrel notes of charred oak and nutty earthy bourbon characters. Quite complex on the nose. Really wonderful. 4.5

T: Taste is decadent, like a boozy almond joy. Big coconut, way bigger than my notes on the Prop ‘14 indicated (lack of coconut characters was actully a beef of mine in that one); milk chocolate, big almond and nutty notes. Cinnamon is mostly on the finish. It’s sweet but not cloying like most of the “pastry stouts” out there. Barrel notes are prominent, with the aforementioned nutty characters and charred wood. It is missing some of the characteristic aggressively roasty components typical in BCBS. 4.5

M/D: Mouthfeel is full bodied, ABV well masked. I said in the taste section that it’s not cloying but actually it is a big cloying as you continue to drink.

O: This ones a bit tough for me to rate cause I think they absolutely nailed what they were going for but and it’s excellent but a bit too adjunct forward for my palette profiles at this point in my beer drinking life. I’m on the fence but will give it the benefit of the doubt and round up to a 4.5 as opposed to down to a 4.25. IMO though I think I’d typically just prefer to have a regular BCBS. 4.5
