Notes:
For years, brewers at Goose Island have brainstormed ways to incorporate figs in Bourbon County Brand Stout, but faced a daunting task due to their subtle flavor. After fresh thinking from members of the Goose Island E-commerce team, Melissa Alleguez and Ryan Hubona crafted a recipe inspired by Melissa’s childhood memories of stealing fig cookies out of her grandma’s cookie jar. Highlighting the dried fried profiles extracted from the bourbon in the barrels, our brewers used 10,000 pounds of Black Mission figs.

Another Bourbon County classic! Deep brown to black pour. The mocha head disappears quickly but who cares. The nose is bourbon, molasses, and dark candied fruit. I had a 2022 vintage deep into 2023, and silky liquid heaven just glides down your throat. Fig flavor comes through beautifully, rounded out by a touch of graham cracker. This is the fig cookie experience with 13.9% imperial fringe benefits.

Single bottle purchased in Gainesville, FL from Gator Beverage.
Opening the bottle after letting it chill in the fridge produced a fine sweet scent of fruit and sugar. Maybe a hint of cinnamon but only in the slightest. Pours well with around a 1/2" head that slowly dissipates. The fig scent is prominent with no detectable graham cracker scent.
The pour appears black in color with a light brown ring of foam at the edge. It has the appearance of cola without the carbonation.
The first sip had an initial slightly bitter flavor which was quickly replaced with a moderately sweet and velvety smooth mouthfeel and taste of plum/fig. The profile reminds me of a nice sweet pipe tobacco and I believe this would pair excellently with a pipe. The flavor doesn't seem to be very complex in the sense that many things are vying to come forth but, it is still sophisticated at the same time. The fruit is pronounced and lingers after the swallow. This is what I wish red wine tasted like.
I really like this one.

500 ml bottle into a snifter. Best by 8/30/24, had 12/9/22.
Pours near black and opaque, with a brief head and a little soapy lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, figs, vanilla, raisins, light bourbon- more as it warms, light graham, a little oak and char, a hint of blueberry. Similar flavors: bourbon, figs, malt, oak, raisins, some vanilla, faint graham, and again, a hint of blueberry. Smooth, a very good full body, appropriately carbonated.
Very good overall. Would have liked a bigger fig presence (really like figs), but there’s certainly enough to make a difference. Has distinct flavors and aromas.

Not much different from the standard. A bit sweeter, less oak on the nose. There is some dark fruit sweetness that comes through on the taste. Some chocolate covered coffee beans on the aftertaste. Bourbon County is always good and if theres anything added to it, its probably going to come great anyway, given its done respectfully.

Pours pretty much like any BCBS. Dark, minimal head. Nose comes more like candy, like something sweet. Taste is more sweet than standard. Good blend of the base, fruit, and booze. Huge body, minimal carbonation.

L - Deep rich black with a smooth tan head that dissipates somewhat quickly leaving behind a thin cap
S - Figs with brown sugar and honey up front. Citrus. Molasses and bakers chocolate
T - Complex, but follows the nose: figs and dates intermixed well with brown sugar and honey up front, graham cracker and molasses in the mid palate with citrus zest and bakers chocolate on the back end. Slight toffee and some caramel. More barrel character as it warms.
F - Full bodied with light carbonation. Smooth, rich, velvety
O - Another great BBA stout from Goose Island - tastes like the cookie that inspired the brew

Aroma is bourbon, roasted malts and a hint of dark fruit/figs. The flavor is fruit/stone fruit/dark fruit/figs, roasted malts and a mildly sweet/acidic/big bourbon alcohol finish.

Black in color with no light penetration. There’s a fingernail of brown around the rim. The aroma is of figs, graham crackers, and sweet, boozy bourbon. I’m tasting a lot of fig, bourbon, cinnamon, and graham crackers. The mouth is boozy, dry, thick, and sticky.

Pours a fizzy brown 1 finger head with low retention, no lacing, decent legs, jet black color
Nose big roasted malt, dark chocolate, cocoa, almost fudgey, some coffee, some fruits like fig date, a hint of cracker cookie like, baking spices, vanilla, a little barrel note, very little whiskey, the rich fruit fig date prune like really starts to increase, as well as the graham cracker, maybe some whiskey almost brandy like though
Taste comes on sweet, rich candy sweet, caramel, toffee, big cookie dough, some roast and coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, very candy bar like, then the rich fruits, sweet candied date ,fig, prune, big sweet candied fig thing, almost date syrup, quite sweet syrupy, vanilla, a touch of barrel and whiskey but barely, a bit fudgey thick, a little brandy like whiskey character like the nose, finishes sweet sticky
Mouth is fuller bod, thick but syrupy, mild warming tingly alcohol, med to lower carb
Overall meh, bourbon barrel was way too light, waaaaay too sweet, the fig and fruit was nice at least, but also don't get a lot of graham cracker
