Barrel aged brown ale. Vanilla, coconut, milk chocolate and oak. A bit earthy. Slight amount of bitterness in the end. Fairly sweet. Medium bodied, lower carbed. Not bad. Not getting any coffee. Punch of flavor up front but has a shot finish. It's OK.

My kind of beer. This is about 6+ months old. Pours a dark brown but not so dark you can't see partially through it. A little bit of head, more than some BBA beers I've had. Nice smooth bourbon on the nose. Very bourbon forward, but not in a way that's overly boozy. Caramel/toffee in the middle. Light roast coffee at the end. Mouthfeel is a bit thin but not too much, I think it's about what a brown ale like this is supposed to be. Overall, a great brew.

Draft at Goose Clybourn, served in a snifter.
Tastes like extremely naughty goose with coffee added. Dark brown with a reddish highlight, spotty lace around the edges. Glassy surface with some foam around the edges.

Aroma of bourbon, toffee, and vanilla, coffee isn't really noticeable.

Coffee is more present in the taste though not especially assertive. Toffee, vanilla, bourbon, sweet up front with a dry woody aftertaste. Sweet and fairly creamy. Coffee bourbon barleywine vibes. Good and definitely worth a try.

On tap at Goose Island served in a 12oz. snifter.

Look- A dark reddish brown with a finger of tan foam.

Smell- Coffee up front with a hint of vanilla and some char.

Taste- Coffee forward once again with a vanilla-like sweetness following. A dark fruit background of figs/raisins and some roast.

Feel- Very slick and oily for a brown ale.

Overall- A very solid coffee brown. A nice meld of dark roast coffee along with a bit of something sweet in there. The feel is incredibly slick and smooth which makes this 10.5 percent beer dangerous.

A strong brown ale infused with Goose Island's house Intelligentsia coffee?? Sign me up! What huge aroma / taste front and back, a must try if you love coffee and just a damn good beer overall.

2/26/16 - Chicago ($8 12 oz pour into snifter at Goose Island Clybourn Brewpub). Pitch black body, generous cloudy tan puffy head. Pleasant and rich coffee and tan aroma. Excellent walnut toffee and roasted coffee taste, brown yeast and malt great blend. Thin texture, easy drinking, nice texture pleasant aftertaste. Overall excellent offering by Goose Island!

Imperial brown ale with custom coffee blend by Intelligentsia. Big and sweet with more of an English brown yeast, malty, nutty character than an American Brown's hoppy nature. Clybourn Goose always does solid work in the English vein.
