The color was a beautiful hazy gold/amber.
The mouthfeel was a bit sticky, but alright.
Drinkable only in gulps, but this was due to the flavor, which felt overwhelmingly fruity.

Overall as a beer it was ok, but an award winning beer? Perhaps with someone, but definitely not me. When I drink beer I like it to taste more like beer and less like a fruit bowl, but it looks like this beer appeals to others, so this is just my opinion.

One bias is that I think fruit in beer is heresy punishable by a grisly and slow death, so perhaps the lemon wedge simply enraged me.

Review based on a beer-judging sized sampler. Appropriately cloudy, even a little white like a Belgian. Has an extreme banana and lemon nose that overwhelms the other hefeweizen spices. Very "German," maybe even a little overdone. But you don't need a lemon, that's for sure.

First had: on tap at the brewpub

Review from notes. Hazy straw-yellow pour, topped with a cap of foamy white head; moderate retention and a bit of lacing. Yeasty aroma, wheat, banana esters, light spice and a bit of citrus. More of the same in the taste, bready yeast, banana and clove, light citrus, wheat...pretty much a typical hefe. Medium body, fairly smooth, decently drinkable overall.

probably my least favorite of the beers we had here. its thin in feel and sort of belgian fruity on the yeast, far more esters happening than in the more traditional german editions, thats for sure. it looks a little watered down, whitish yellow without the usual puffy white head. still has a nice haze to it and plenty of visible carbonation. smells like belgian and german yeasts mixed together almost, not as banana forward as it is gum and cotton candy, so strong in flavor it crowds out the freshness of the wheat malt. the flavors are fine, its the balance, or lack there of, that bothers me with this one. the body is real light too, which i think is the beers greatest weakness. i like a creamy rich feel to these, and this is anything but. really the only beer on the menu here that was anything other than outstanding. drinkable sure, no off flavors or visible errors, just not what my particular palate enjoys in the style. this is not to say others will not find it delightful, i can appreciate its merits but its not for me...

Reviewed from notes.

Pours a moderate yellowish color that is quite cloudy and has a nice white head. Nose is yeast, wheat, and light citrus. The taste is wheat and citrus with a bit of a yeasty kick. Nice body with good carbonation. A bit heavy but drinks well.

On tap at piece. Look is orange and hazy, darker than I expect from a hefe. Smell is sweet esters, maybe banana. Taste brings all the banana, very creamy and thick feel for a hefe. Overall I wasn't a big fan when I started the pint, but it grew on me quite a bit. It doesn't hit all the hefe notes I prefer, but it is tasty

On tap at Piece...Medium gold with a light orange tint...The aroma is nice with oranges, wheat and yeast nice and balanced. The taste is a little disappointing, too sweet with banana, needs to be more balanced. Easy to drink but nothing special.

Overall, pretty good.

it pours a little more amber than usual. with a dense but smaller foam than expected. the smell is a nice blend of wheat and banana with an interesting lingering maltiness. the taste is backed up by that maltiness. this hef is a bit denser tasting. it has wheat and fruitness but it also has a very subdued hop and malt that lingers. a good beer. light but essentially more american than german. still excellent for a brewpub beer.

alcohol contain is 5.5 to 6 percent. a bit stronger than usual
