Deeper bronze color with a medium bright white head. Not much lacing. Smells nutty but the very grapefruit dominate. A touch of earthy hop flavors as well. Taste is rounded with softer malty caramel flavors. Heightened acidity from the hops on top of the caramel. Juicier in flavor than I thought it might be from the smell. A touch of biscuit in the back. Finish has some ice tea character and a bit drying but still a touch of juice character. Piney bitter flavors increase in the end as well. Medium bodied, lower carbonation, very easy to session.

pours into a nonic golden with orange hues. lots of bubbles beneath a truly determined head. creamy and fluffy with a pock-marked surface, the white stuff here leaves some picturesque swiss cheese/italian bread crusty lace.

aroma wafts off this beer in spades.. unbelievably rich and floral mix of citrus and sweet fruits with freshly mowed grass and other mild green botanical smells. something also reminds me of apple-cranberry juice. overall, exactly the kind of refreshing, sweet-tooth sensation i want on an 86-degree day.

medium-thick body with lots of dancing carbonation allows this beer to go down like a true champ. medium bitterness levels from the ridiculous hop additions remind you that this is an ass-kicking flavor bomb, but do not interrupt the drinking process ala stone. pineapple flavors appear with grapefruit rinds, a touch of fresh honey and a field of wildflowers. this is a luxurious liquid delivery vehicle for fresh, fruity, mouthwatering hops. if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. sure, we have some nutty malt flavors here also, but nothing to write home about. this is not your mommy's lagunitas ipa.

sure, this isn't the most complex brew, but i'll be damned if it doesn't do the job nicely and leave me wanting more.. more.. MORE! gotta get my ass to piece one of these days..

Since discovering Piece a few years ago, I've made it a habit to visit every time I'm in the city. This is the first time I was able to try the Dysfunctionale. It was well worth the wait.

Poured a rich amber color with a decent head that left abundant lacing down the entire glass.

You notice the hoppy aroma from quite a distance and it is really prominent when you raise the glass to your nose. The brewer must have used significant amounts in the brewing process and you get the feeling it was dry-hopped as well.

The rich malt flavor fills the mouth to the back of the tongue before making way for hops in the finish. The flavors are so well balanced with an exceptional mouthfeel.

This beer ranks up there with my favorite APA selections. I took a growler home and my hop-head friend was equally bowled over. This beer doesn't last long on tap apparently. Piece visitors must share my enthusiasm.

(Served in a Nonic)

A- This beer is a warm orange hazy body with a creamy white head that last a good while. There was no sign of carbonation due to the hazy body.

S- The smell of green hops with a soft aroma of orange Tang or creamsicles in the background got me interested. No real aroma of malt or alcohol even as it warmed, it was all just hops and orange.

T- The green hops did not taste as orange as they smelled but they did have a citrus note with some pine flavors as it warmed. There was pale malt flavors along with some sweet lightly toasted malt that gave a bit of support to the hops. The finish was a very soft bitter hop flavor but the bulk of the hop flavor was at the front.

M- This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a fizz texture that cuts the flavor short.

D- This had some nice flavor but bit it was a bit one-dimensional with citrus hops playing the lead and not much support from other hops or malt or even alcohol.

Pretty average IPA with an exceptionally thin mouthfeel despite the powerful carbonation blast. Looks are mostly clear, dark orange with some messy haze. Nose is fruity hops with lots of citrusy orange. Taste, too, was citric and hoppy, and quite sweet. Led to lots of hoppy burping.

Didn't seem real balanced, and I didn't take a strong liking to it.

Served very cold.

Orange with a small foamy head.

The aroma was full of citrusy hops without any real malt to back it up. Fairly enticing though.

Full bodied and very smooth. The flavor is mostly of floral hops with no real bitterness. There is some spiciness in the finish.

This is a fairly easy drinking, session IPA. It's not the greatest I've had but I could drink a few of these no problem.

Appearance: Dark copper, clear beer. Off white head quickly diminshed.

Aroma: Hoppy. There is a bit of citrus fruit present in the hop aromas. But it's also showing lots of floral and vegital aromas from the hops. The sweetness from the malt is heavily covered by the hop smells.

Taste: Nutty maltiness is eclipsed by the sharp grapefruit flavors on the tongue. The finish is a bit harsh and fast. The body is firm, but leaning toward rough near the finish.

Notes: This is a solid beer, but it's not terribly well balanced. Maybe it was super fresh, and it needs a bit of time to mellow, but I felt the balancing was a bit harsh.
