Notes:
This traditionally brewed, award-winning Kolsch beer is straw colored, crisp, and refreshing, similar to a lager in many respects. Thus is actually a light German ale.

On-draught @ Piece.
A: Clear yellow with a white cap atop. ~2 minute retention.
Sm: Pilsner malt. Floral hop aromatics.
T&M: Nails the crisp refreshing mouthfeel of traditional German expressions of the style. Marries a light-bodied pilsner malt backbone with pleasant floral and grassy hop flavours.
Harmonious and well-balanced. Smooth, wet, refreshing.
O: A surprisingly solid kolsch given an American brewery is behind it...I could drink this all night. Great mouthfeel and above average depth of flavour. Definitely worth a go...I'll have to revisit this in finer grain in future.

To be honest this beer is their standard go to when it comes to pairing a beer with their pizza. While I am not a huge fan of it, it does the trick. Comes out of the gate weak, doesnt have a great finish either. I have had it where it tastes ok, and other times it tastes like a 2 liter of opened pop that had been sitting in the fridge for 2 months. Wish they could get some more consistency from this brew. But hey, the pizza is damn good.

On-tap at the pizzeria:
The beer appeared a light yellow in color that produced a white head that no retention. This might have been due the staff being overwhelmed by the crowd that night and not really caring. The beer also gave off a nice, light malty aroma, as expected for the style. The beer had a really good taste and is a good example of the style. Well balanced, light feel, very easy to drink, again, as expected from the style. Overall, a good beer.

It tastes, smells, and looks like bud light -- not at all what you would expect at a brew pub in Chicago -- all with extra carbonation that makes for an awful mouthfeel. My as well go somewhere down the street for a $2 bottle of Budweiser. How has this seriously won multiple awards?

Hey, do you like smarties? This tastes like the banana one! I for one, don't so I very much did not like this beer. There something about throwing that taste upon hops that just doesn't work. I know that it comes from part of the grain but it needs to be complimented and not challenged
