To be honest this beer is their standard go to when it comes to pairing a beer with their pizza. While I am not a huge fan of it, it does the trick. Comes out of the gate weak, doesnt have a great finish either. I have had it where it tastes ok, and other times it tastes like a 2 liter of opened pop that had been sitting in the fridge for 2 months. Wish they could get some more consistency from this brew. But hey, the pizza is damn good.

Appearance: Sent to me with no head, I mean this is a brewpub right?Wtf. Very light gold, sparklingly clear.
Smell: Faint aroma of the hops.
Taste: The taste was good for me, hoppy, crisp refreshing, I could see chugging this at a barbeque. My first conscious example of a Kolsch, so admittedly I don't really know what to expect.
Mouthfeel: Fizzy.
Drinkability: My least favorite beer of the night but still a good beer. Very drinkable.

(Served in a Nonic)
A- This beer pours a golden yellow clear body with a thin white ring of foam. It had good carbonation of tiny bubbles that stemmed from the bottom of the glass.
S- The smell of light pale malt with noble hops was very smooth and to style. As it warmed there was a bit more of a corn aroma to it.
T- The green noble hops and pale malt had a light fresh taste with that distinct Kolsch flavor (not the typical skunky flavor but the fresh flavor). That sulfury almost sweet flavor that is nice in small quantities. The flavor was quickly wiped off the palate by the strong taste of carbonic acid in the fizzy finish. As it warmed the pale malt flavor started to taste more like corn, which was a bit of a turn-off.
M- The light mouthfeel had a strong fizz texture that took over soon after each sip.
D- This beer had to much "Kolsch flavor" and it was a bit overpowering with the sulfur and corn notes but the fizz was the most cumbersome feature of this beer. If the qualities were softer it could be a good session beer for those American Adjunct Lager fans.

Hey, do you like smarties? This tastes like the banana one! I for one, don't so I very much did not like this beer. There something about throwing that taste upon hops that just doesn't work. I know that it comes from part of the grain but it needs to be complimented and not challenged

Reviewed from a beer-judging sized sampler. Very spritzy and lemony. Has a thin head with some lacing over a straw colored, slightly cloudy body. Grassy hops, just a little sour, and a nice clean finish. Yeah, that pizza is pretty good (thin-crust on a cracker-style crust is Chicagos other pizza, and they do it pretty well here).

Golden Arm: A German style Kolsch, on tap at Piece brewpub. Straw colored, very tall white head, not too much retention, and no lace. The taste was a fairly big disappointment. It had a sulfur undertone, and was lacking any semblance of balance. Crisp finish that disappeared right off the palate. Not too good.

On-tap at the pizzeria:
The beer appeared a light yellow in color that produced a white head that no retention. This might have been due the staff being overwhelmed by the crowd that night and not really caring. The beer also gave off a nice, light malty aroma, as expected for the style. The beer had a really good taste and is a good example of the style. Well balanced, light feel, very easy to drink, again, as expected from the style. Overall, a good beer.

Piece Brewery Golden Arm served on tap
Kolsch style, clear amber in color. Medium head. Warm malts and lots of carbonation. It has a fair bitterness to the finish with some hops flavor. It was very light, which is typical of a Kolsch, but I expected more fruit flavorings.
This is an ok pale ale. It didn't feel like a true Kolsch with the lightness.
